if everything goes out i can grab my rifle or fishing rod walk into woods or rivers all around me and have meat to cook on a campfire by sunset, also i live near GIGANTIC farmlands there's literally miles and miles and miles of pure food just sitting all around me.
if everything goes out in city and you need meat you have to find a fucking rat to eat that will likely cause grave illness or kill a stray cat or dog or your neighbor(s) who will probably kill you if you try, and the wood you burn to cook it will be chemically treated wood that will poison you when you cook your food on it. you will literally be forced to flee your hellhole to survive or you will have to risk death with every meal.

there's a TON of state land near me including hunting grounds, and the rivers are not privately owned by anyone. The Tennessee river alone is fucking MASSIVE and if i was reduced to only it as a supply i would still be fine. The farms around here are just astronomically gigantic and the local farmers have been here for generations they will not be murdering anyone if it all shuts down they cant sell the shit anyway it would just rot and its more than our local area could ever eat in 100 years every season.

The only reason those signs get enforced is because of law enforcement. Police will immediately abandon their jobs when everyday becomes more deadly and their families have to fend for themselves while they’re away. Boomers with shotguns are not going to be able to stop desperate people from hunting their land and if they try…. Well you can guess what happens when starving people have an easy to remove obstacle in front of them

I will say this, and with good intent:

Don't go after the deer. The whole reason we have bag limits is because everyone had the same idea to subsidies their food with venison during the great depression.

The good thing in this situation too is that any fleeing city folk will probably make it 50-100 miles out of a city, given traffic levels never seen before and the fact most people have half a tank of gas or less.

I think those signs are posted just to provide a legal defense against squatters. Without it squatters can just squat and eventually the law will recognize the land as legally theirs.

i don't think anything like that law exists in usa, pretty sure it's strictly a eurocuck thing
they did however let people squat in houses and not pay rent for a few years cause covid but they ended that like last year and it never transferred ownership to squatters

              neat didn't know about this
i could definitely see this being used as legal groundwork for a new "land rush" or whatever you would call it of ownership transfer after a great collapse, banks alone own about 25% of homes in usa and will be completely unable to travel to their properties and deal with millions of simultaneous squatters if it got real bad

              >if everything goes out i can grab my rifle or fishing rod walk into woods or rivers all around me and have meat to cook on a campfire by sunset

he doesn't realise everyone else will be doing the same and there will be nothing left to hunt

i live in a smallish town, there's more food around us than we could eat in decades and no city folk aren't going to come out here to bumfuck nowhere. no one even knows we exist we are 100+ miles from any major city. if you can't get gas you aren't going to walk 100 miles into the woods and stumble upon us, and even if you did it's not going to be like a migrant caravan of citytards that all end up exactly here, usa is huge and they will scatter like roaches in light (hopefully nuclear light)

Do city folk really think they are part of the ruling class just because they live in the same city as their overlords? In a crisis it is the city dwellers who starve to death. Look at French Revolution.

This thread has been kinda derailed as urban vs rural but that isn't really what "flyover" means. Most real food in the US is grown near the coasts... CA is actually by FAR the biggest agricultural powerhouse in America. Upstate NY, PA, and MI also grow huge amounts of real food. Meanwhile most of the great plains is just endless fields of soi and corn for ethanol and livestock feed.

Unironically someone from central or southern Jersey has a better chance of surviving an energy crisis than someone in the middle of Kansas. The former has access to natural resources, pre-industrial infrastructure, and real farms within a reasonable distance. The latter's entire existence is dominated by a paradigm of factory-farming that both can't exist and has no purpose outside a petroleum-based economy.

CA grows pretty much everything my man. Including corn and plenty of dairy along side fruits and veggies. So, a balanced diet. Same can be said of east coast farms.

Most produce from flyover 'farms' isn't even edible without extensive processing.

You really, truly don't get it. Probably because you're LARPing suburbanite whose never seen a real farm in his life.
These monoculture 'farms' are not really farms, they are glorified refineries. They exist to produce ethanol and corn syrup as outputs, and petroleum as inputs. The corn they use is so hypermodified and specialized that it requires massive amounts of oil-based fertilizer, extensive irrigation equipment, and other advanced technology just to survive... not to mention monstrous tractors and combines. All that requires HUGE amounts of energy. These places would be the very first in the entire world to collapse in an energy crisis.

Farms in coastal states and the upper midwest are still somewhat dependent on oil but to a far lesser extent. They still use a decent amount of traditional techniques because they aren't doing monoculture. PA and OH are especially well off with large Mennonite/Amish populations, and CA with it's incredible breadth of produce.
