Sure. Since there's nothing contradictory in knowing one's own ignorance or absence of knowledge, Socrates is indeed gnostic when he claims to know nothing at all.
Do you think gnostics actually know everything? Not "everything" as in "everything there is to know", as that would be redundant, but literally everything? This would be a false interpretation of gnosticism in my experience.
I said that gnosticism is linked to the truth of this reality
Something Socrates didn't face until he did... Which led to him being killed.
Unlike Diogenes who literally renounced everything to live in truth, thus his punishment wasn't as severe because he had already renounced everything that could be taken from him.
You are very misguided and proud, obviously you are lost but you can't see it for a shroud of arrogance covers your eyes.
Your thread is just >Muh idol
Instead of exalting the actions of a fallible man.
My point was not to just dunk on Socrates. There is a layer of context often missing when Socrates' name is mentioned, the Socrates presented to us by Plato is an intentionally incomplete Socrates; the same way an artist turns mundane nature into a cohesive vision is the way Plato presents the wisdom of Socrates. I find Plato often does not 'get his flowers' in such circumstances, so I wanted to bring him into the conversation, and this is LULZ; I can be as abrupt as I like.
Diogenes is also a gnostic. Never forget. Also all gymnosophists are by default gnostic as well.

Someday you will realize that you're retarded, Socrates himself said a multitude of times that he was not the originator of any of the things he taught. Picrel
>Socrates, who has the humility to admit he doesn't know, sounds very different from Christian preachers
That's because Christ is not the same as those who preach Christianity.
DID U EVER HEAR OF PYTHAGORAS
Gnosticism isn't just about knowledge.
Please show me where Socrates said he knew of a transcendent realm we are trapped away from that can be re-attained through knowledge of said cosmos and the beings that construct it.
>the first member of a Christian sect was a guy who lived 400 years before Christ was born
are you entirely sure about that

You want to elaborate on that?
Sure. Since there's nothing contradictory in knowing one's own ignorance or absence of knowledge, Socrates is indeed gnostic when he claims to know nothing at all.
Socrates wasn't gnostic, he had gnostic ideals but didn't go along with it til he got killed
Unlike Diogenes who defaced currency and then on lived like an indigent... Which is the Greek word the bible uses when it says "blessed are the poor".
Do you think gnostics actually know everything? Not "everything" as in "everything there is to know", as that would be redundant, but literally everything? This would be a false interpretation of gnosticism in my experience.
Did I say so?.

Clever
Happy to see you can grok it, Anon.
And Plato is nothing without Socrates. Your point?
Socrates is nothing without Plato.
Neither of them would consider this comment useful.

You just don't understand Plato, and that's ok.
Plato was a disgenuine grifter who promoted his Philosophy by creating these fabricated characters of real people like Plato.
Diogenes was Socrates true successor.
The only thing you've associated Plato with disingenuously, is this comment you've made.
>muh greek philosophy
Dgaf
It's cainite gnosticism
Not platonist

Right along the time I discovered that Plato created him.
Aristophanes talks about Socrates as well

Socrates is comparable to Christ, tbf
Don't mind me, just checking my own digits
I don't know about Christ himself, but Socrates, who has the humility to admit he doesn't know, sounds very different from Christian preachers

Pseudo-gnostics getting uppity.
>could not supply any evidence that Socrates held gnostic belief
Thought so.
