I've listened to Les Savy Fav. They were part of the great Pitchfork indie landfill of the 00's. I can't imagine who this redditor thinks they influenced because they played incredibly of its time indie rock for their entire career.
I read the substack article he linked and it basically just says they were influential because they were regulars in the post-punk revival scene in Brooklyn at the time, which...sure. The guy who wrote is obviously a big fan and has a bunch of live pictures so I think the title is just an attention grab. This was always one of those bands that never really stood out from any other Brooklyn indie band at the time, but their singles were fine.
Call me reddit or whatever but I saw Les Savy Fav maybe 3 times & they put of a wild show, that stupid looking fat singer had a lot of energy would run around in the crowd and do crazy shit. They are from that first few years of 2000's when everything was post-punk again
I actually kind of like their music but I looked them up on social media and saw how completely irredeemably soi they are and decided to never listen to them again.
jeez, after 20 years I can finally admit I never really listened to this band. Can someone just tell me, are they like deerhoof? I always imagined it sounding like deerhoof
I can tell from looking at them they make shitty soicuck garbage
not remotely obscure and they were pretty good but I don't think they're influential at all
zoomed out brown hands typed these posts
i hate indie culture so much
thats embarrassing
The gay header makes me want to continue to remain ignorant of this band out of spite
I would feel generally disgusted if someone i knew in real life told me they browsed that sub.

Funny how nobody ever mentions the 20s hip-hop landfill.
You can't criticize America's gods, anon.
wow this is actual AIMcore, but thanks for the nostalgia, anon
same question, what was the great influence? this shit became pretty uncool and forgotten pretty quick when me and my friends got old enough to drink

i could see someone who was there (and obsessed with it) at the time considering them culturally influential, if not necessarily musically
Gay name, I'mma pass

That is the case with all of the indie post-punk acts i bet. They all became more and more pozzed over time
Good reason for you to go back, no?
