I think it's just because they've been around for so long, and haven't branched out much stylistically. It's textbook radio rock, which is fine for background noise at work or in a store or something, but I doubt anyone gets truly excited when they put out new material.
They arent textbook radio rock. Those are foo fighter. Who sound exactly like any other radio rock band. RHCP for better or worse sound like RHCP. Sure, they play in the radio a lot, but they are not the textbook radio rock at all.
Not the guy who insulted you, I never said I liked the RHCP dunno where you got that. They simply arent textbook. You might like it or not, but the funk base with the flea/frus combo makes it not an average radio rock band.
Creed, nickelback, pearl jam, foo fighters. ALl of those are generic radio rock bands.
I just lump them in with the beginner bands every high school kid likes: Nirvana, Green Day, RHCP.
Also they have a lot of songs that aren't funk at all.
Because they tried to transition from being crazy, out of control funk rockers to being serious, mature songwriters but Anthony Kedis was still writing all the lyrics.
also reminder that RHCP have always been trend-hoppers. all their albums sound exactly like the decade they were released in. in the 80s they sounded like an 80s band, in the 90s they sounded like a 90s band, in the 00s they sounded like a 00s band. in the 10s they sounded like a 10s band (which obviously means they sounded like shit), etc.
oh and he never really did drugs, he just claimed it for dramatic purposes. maybe he tried a little bit in the 80s but quickly stopped when he lost a bunch of friends to heroin. otherwise he would have trashed his body as badly as John did.
Yeah I don’t really mind that, it’s like those rappers that claim they’ll kill a million niggas in a heartbeat and you find out they went to college and go to church every Sunday. It’s just entertainment
my gf likes rhcp and occasionally sends me their songs. i despise this band because of beer commercial guitar riffs and retarded lyrics but i dont want to upset her so i just dont bother replying to those messages of her. i wish she would rather listen to rhp with me
I was not a RHCP fan until One Hot Minute came out in 1995 and I became a huge fan. I was 18 at the time and was a huge Jane’s Addiction fan so I was a RHCP fan because of Dave Navarro. Sadly this was the only album of theirs I liked. Listening back to it now I think it’s utter shite. No idea how they became so popular, Anthony has one of the worst voices ever, alongside Perry Farrell!!
Only contrarian homosexuals hate on RHCP. Probably zoomers who can't stand anything with more complexity than a drum machine beat and monotone mumbling.
if they weren't one of the most successful bands of all time, the "hate" would instead be apathy. they'd be like Primus, and most people wouldn't be fans but wouldn't begrudge them their niche fame.
but instead you hear Under The Bridge every day on the radio, and it pushes people to more extreme opinions.
I had a RHCP phase in highschool. I think they're alright. Bass lines are fun and frusciante makes just a few notes sound great. Anthony is clearly the worst of the bunch, and his singing style is probably the reason many people hate them. Other than that, it's probably how overplayed they are. BSSM is pretty cool though! https://youtu.be/OJGbJD3z4P4?si=vxirM_PnsiYRRZMC
Anthony Kiedis' vocals only got more annoying to me over time. Turns out being overplayed only dulled everyone rather than actually acclimating as if his style was good but took time to grow on you.
I remember hating them back in the day, but I always knew music was shit before everyone else did. I was way ahead of the curve shitting on Nickelback and Ja Rule too.
They made a huge mistake by putting out one of the weakest greatest hits albums early in the 90's. That 3-song turd was in all the used record stores. That should've been the end.
They’re fine, I don’t know anyone that hates them or loves them but it doesn’t really matter
Stadium Arcadium was their last album as far as I'm concerned. They started going to shit after Mother's Milk though.
I think it's just because they've been around for so long, and haven't branched out much stylistically. It's textbook radio rock, which is fine for background noise at work or in a store or something, but I doubt anyone gets truly excited when they put out new material.

Gonna go ahead and disagree with ya there big guy.
Fucking homosexual
No need to get upset, you just have bland taste.
You’re a complete pussy
Not the guy who insulted you, I never said I liked the RHCP dunno where you got that. They simply arent textbook. You might like it or not, but the funk base with the flea/frus combo makes it not an average radio rock band.

You got it backwards, red hot chili peppers defined the baseline
other artists' covers are superior
I love funk/soul it’s my favorite genre but RHCP had the best version of this song
You're the kind of guy who judges music by how fuckable you find the singer
It's larp
GIBITAWAY GIBITAWAY GIBITAWAY NOW
Underrated.

It's rock you could play around girls and they wouldnt be turned off by it.
That's why they've been so succesful, at least in the 90's.
Why would you ever want to hang with girls who are generally turned off by rock?
Sex.

Soul To Squeeze and Breaking the Girl are the only songs they ever wrote worth a damn

At one time, this band was pretty huge

early rhcp is kinda rank tho
The Uplift Mofo Party Plan is clearly the superior album.
Its the crowd that likes RCHP these days; boring white suburbanites. No one wants to rep that shit.
Please apply this to other parts of your life nog. Please swear off everything white suburbanites love (fyi we love water and breathing)

Yeah they’re about their money
Unironically, recc me some other bands that sound like RHCP from uplift mofo party plan and/or Mother's Milk.
Freaky Stylee is a praddy good album gaiz
as soon as they started doing ballads it was like they pissed in the bath water really, hard for me to listen to anything beyond BSSM
reminder that Anthony Kiedis is like 60 and still fucks a different 19 year old every week
He’s in pretty good shape from what I’ve seen
oh and he never really did drugs, he just claimed it for dramatic purposes. maybe he tried a little bit in the 80s but quickly stopped when he lost a bunch of friends to heroin. otherwise he would have trashed his body as badly as John did.

Niggas that go to college still might kill you anon
Most of these guys wouldn’t stomp a fucking grape
Actual junkies become non-functional in a hurry like Keef and Jimmy Page in the mid-70s or obviously John Frusciante in the mid-90s.
Keith Richards never did drugs, it was a marketing LARP.
in the band's prime no, he did absolutely get strung out on heroin in the mid-70s which is why he was barely present on the albums from that period
Good for him.

My dad hated them back in the early 2000s because they were overplayed as fuck. I didn’t mind but they legitimately were.
Worthless herion addicts
I think they've never made a really good album but they have lots of great songs. They're also really good live.
I find that hardcore RHCP fans are normies with entry level taste and people who hate them usually are pretentious.
Overall fun band and good live perfomance if you don't take yourself to seriously.
I hate N I double G Ers

After BloodSugarSexMagik they became generic. Everyone hated me saying this in 1999 and they can just keep hating me I guess.

I like John Frusciante's guitar playing on some songs but the rest of the band fucking sucks.
there's a video of flea and chad smith improvising at a namm show or something that is way more entertaining than most stuff they do with the band
