it only comes with an automatic transmission.
There is no manual at all in the charger
DROPPED
>+4000lbs
>300 peak hp
Yikes
Nothing really. The R/T is a meme. The car is a comfy floaty boat that is still fun to drive in traffic. If you wanna drive fast get a 392.
>drive fast get a 392
You literally won't feel a difference between the two unless your going over most speed limits. Nice engine and all but not worth it. Better to boost an rt
I've driven an r/t and personally I felt it was marginally faster than a camry. It's a lot of heft to move around with that 5.7. By comparison the 392 actually feels fast enough to be genuinely fun
The r/t is a 13.6 1/4 mile car so that's not surprising
Camry is a full second slower than an rt and a full second faster than a pentastar
That's actually fucking embarrassing
Lol and the v6 Camry eats 50~ish hp in the drivetrain too
It's the only one with AWD?
The car weighs over 4k pounds. The V6 is barely up to the task of moving that much pigfat around. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Charger RT it is the best daily driver I’ve ever had, but even its 375hp is only adequate to feel like I can get out of my own way. Now my Challenger Scat, on the other hand, that at least feels quick, even then I don’t dare say it’s fast because a Mustang GT with a 10speed can absolutely eat my lunch. If you want to go fast in one of theses boats you really should skip all the BS and go Hellcat.
>The V6 is barely up to the task of moving that much pigfat around
The 300hp V6 is honestly more than peppy enough for most, I've had rental-spec SXT Chargers up to ~130mph numerous times and they have no trouble hitting that speed. They're certainly quicker and more comfortable than most 4-banger base economy cars, that's for sure.
>t. drives a lot of rentals
people still think base Chargers have the 250hp 3.5 and the 5-speed Mercedes trans. That was definitely slow as shit and barely able to get out of its own way, the car lost like 40 HP in the driveline.
Pentastar + ZF8 is pretty quick, easily faster than anything that isn't a V8 version of the same car. The engine is significantly more powerful and the trans is much more efficient, with only 12% driveline loss.
yeah not that anon but I drove a rental Charger a few months ago and it was pretty tight. the shifter in manual mode will even let you "money shift" the car if you want, didnt deny a single shift and was pretty quick about it too. can only imagine how good it is on the R/T Charger, anything sportier with actual shift paddles
well for half the people who buy these cars its all about appearance and show, so just get the gt and debadge it and there you saved yourself tens of thousands of dollars for the same thing
It will always exist in the shadow of the v6 model, which is the same issue all of the 4 cylinder/v6 pony cars have. Nobody shits on a nissan z for not having v8 because it never had a v8. If it did, the v6 would be a cope car.
The low trim models are intended to be the accessible units. They're supposed to move volume. They bring enough money into the program to allow engineers to make silly v8s with tons of power and options. They are the goyslop cars of their respective class.
Some people just treat them like normal cars which is fine. The second you shill one as some slept on performance machine or modify you become a blithering low iq retard. No matter how much money you spend, the v8 will be better.
>It will always exist in the shadow of the v6 model, which
The v8 model*
I had one fucking job
> or modify
k guess I'll drive my i4 stock 🙁
The Pentastar is the most powerful Mopar V6 of all time and there is literally nothing wrong with it.
Wrong, the V6 outsells the V8 4-to-1.
The V8 only exists because of the V6, you even said it yourself.
Your entire standard of performance is ridiculous, there are plenty of goyslop V8s with open diffs that justify the 8 second 1/4 limited production drag monster you will never own.
>goyslop v8s
That word, I don't think it means what you think it means
A barely 350 HP base model V8 with an automatic and a one tire igniter is the definition of goyslop. The V6 is at least an honest car, a V8 with no limited slip is a retarded naggermobile.
Also
>Ford 4.6
literally the definition of V8 goyslop
V8 is the antithesis of goyslop, otherwise every single manufacturer wouldn't be getting rid of them. Nice cope attempt though v6 owner
>the definition of goyslop
Lmao no
>350 HP
Yeah, the 09+ base model v8's are making that to the wheels, which is conservatively around 385 crank HP. The base models do lack a true lsd which sucks, but the stock diff isn't terrible. You can still lay double hockey sticks with it
the stock diff is ass and will blow up doing a one wheeler
i have a 6.2's LSD and 5.7 axles in my V6 and it's the best fucking mod you can do full stop. Delete the ESP and the car drives amazing.
Anon people do that shit to every car stop being retarded. Car modding is life, doesn't matter what it is.
You and your friends are autistic retards falling for terrible bait jfc
>using faceberg
normoid detected
>You and your friends are autistic retards falling for terrible bait jfc
faceberg
>normoid detected
Literally nothing but cope
>being overly self conscious
Which is everyone who pretends a v6 pony car is anything more than a peppy commuter
Anon that left post is clearly a joke or someone suffering from irl schizophrenia. GT350 clone guy knows and tells people he is making a clone. Pentastar Charger Chad just wants a loud car and the Pentastar's devil kazoo will hearald his presence wherever he goes. You are a casual normoid Facebook mom sharing "memes" and should be ashamed that you are basically letting an algorithm tell you what is real.
That first mustang is a joke come on now.
I fucking swear to you these are genuine posts man. They aren't even unique examples
Even so it's damaged people doing dumb things with fine cars. They live rent free in your head and now you think everyone is that guy.
Now you are the broken, autistic loser.
Stay off Facebook you fucking moron it's a psyop
No, I just enjoy laughing at retarded people. If you couldn't help but mention v8s every time you praised your own cars I'd have nothing to say.
would you like some more tap water with your corn syrup sir?
>deflecting cope
>*schlorp* *schlorp*
another diet coke, sir?
>Stay off Facebook you fucking moron it's a psyop
Buying and selling cars is a psyop?
>terrible bait
Not bait. Every single post was genuine
faceberg
This is how basically everyone buys cars nowadays
>Wrong, the V6 outsells the V8 4-to-1.
>The V8 only exists because of the V6, you even said it yourself.
Thats what I said you fucking retard
You have zero reading comprehension
you lack the reading comprehension to understand what you even posted you dumb fuck
without the V6 putting in the sales volume legwork there is no V8 at all, you are given the privilege to own a 700 hp supercharged tarmac curler BECAUSE four V6s sold in the time it took you to finish the paperwork. And since the cars were designed around that massive fucking engine to begin with, you still get the performance pedigree of that 200 mph Demon in your SXT. All the same performance equipment fits. There is no reason to not buy a V6 LX body unless you aim to drag race it, and that's just because making the V8 faster is simpler.
>without the V6 putting in the sales volume legwork there is no V8 at all,
That was the entire point of my post and you're too retarded to understand it. I'm not even going to read the rest of your post. V6 is the goyslop car for retards who don't care. It's that simple.
You are literally retarded and trying to justify buying a goyslop V8 with an open diff because reddit
Okay buddy. Enjoy your cope rental tier pony car and don't let me stop you
why did you come to a v6 thread to cope about your base model pinto axled mustang then?
>don't let me stop you
oh believe me you cant
Because the thread title is "what's wrong with a v6" and I laid it out. You're taking offense and feel called out for buying the appliance version of a better car.
>base model pinto axled mustang
Take your meds lol
there's nothing wrong with a V6, your posts are consoomerist cope based on outdated views which mark you as a poser and not a real enthusiast. The V6 in LX bodies makes them lighter and handle better. There are no downsides except roughly 30% less power in a car that already lights tires and drifts fully sideways if you look at it funny.
All of you v6 owners sound exactly the same. It's all cope.
>Some people just treat them like normal cars which is fine. The second you shill one as some slept on performance machine or modify you become a blithering low iq retard. No matter how much money you spend, the v8 will be better.
>car literally designed and marketed as a performance machine
>has slightly smaller engine in it
>NOOOOO ITS NOT LIKE THE ADVERTISRMENTS!!!!!!1
you are literally a good goy
You bought a fleet vehicle dude. That's what goy slop is. Low quality shit shoveled out to the masses who don't care what they're fed as long as it looks like food.
it's the same fucking car made by the same underpaid Pakis in the same factory in canada you melodramatic autist
if anything the V6 has more sovl because it must prove itself
A V8 is just a V6 for a heavy truck
Anything less than a V10 is goyslop
>if anything the V6 has more sovl because it must prove itself
And it doesn't. Keep coping
it does though
>underappreciated
>easily tuned
>unique exhaust note
>basically immortal with regular maintenance
>replacement parts for centuries
>makes autists upset
yeah I'm thinking based
>underappreciated
Because it's worthless
>easily tuned
And you will never be faster than a v8 without spending money that could have bought you a v8
>unique exhaust note
Lmao
>basically immortal with regular maintenance
Lmao
>replacement parts for centuries
Ok?
>makes autists upset
Yes the autists who own them get very upset when they get told their rental car is a rental
This
Youre the cope king homosexual
You like number 5
5 feels the best to my weiner
>y-youre c-coping
>posts pic of literal buttholes he has saved to his PC
lol
fake story there are no aftermarket heads for the Pstar just deck supports.
there are plenty of other ripp pstars that would slap your hemi including wranglers, I think that car was tuned bad if you aren't just making shit up entirely
these look like gaping alien buttholes. eyes are disgusting up close. there's no way #5 isn't just someone's actual anus.
Yo my ford does the same thing
There's a kid that worked across the street from me that bought a Pentastar new in cash he'd been saving since he was a little kid as a gift for graduating high school and he would park next to my Charger days when we both worked.
He asked me one day he wished he had more rumble in his exhaust note and how it'd be possible to make it sound more "mean" and I pretty much told him it'd sound like ass regardless and if he was gonna keep that particular car to get the RIPP kit and be happy with what it was.
Even after putting a blower, heads, tune, cheater slicks etc etc etc on it that car still couldn't mildly keep up with my RT with a mild cam, heads and FBO. I know my shit on the dyno only made 410/393 at the wheels so the only thing I can figure is the numbers they put up for that RIPP kit are full of shit.
The plus side is he was butthurt enough after that to trade it in on a 392 widebody which should have been the choice to begin with.
Had a buddy like that in high school who had an (at the time) new S193. It was a basic bitch V6 but looked cool, he was in a never ending quest to get it to sound like a V8. Was funny cause I had a shitbox sn95 gt at the time which despite having a 4.6l v8 with all of TWO HUNDRED & THIRTY GALLOPING STALLIONS had a full flow master catless exhaust and sounded sick. Would always get jelly about why his car didn't sound the same and asked me about "race kits" or if there was anything he could do to get the sound, I'm like bro, no you got a V6. He still put full exhaust on it and a 4.0l V6 is aaaalmost convincing, but soon as it revved up you should tell. He died young but wanted a gt500 one day.
RIP my bro
ok so
>I knew a guy who was terminally retarded and could not fathom why a V6 and V8 cannot and do not sound the same
>This means everybody who does anything more than change the oil on a V6 car is a EXACTLY THE SAME PERSON
ok well I'm ASE certified and I have a new driveshaft to install today because apparently my minivan engine that doesn't make enough torque makes enough torque to nuke the 150,000 mile driveshaft center bearing.
the fix is to install a performance mod, a one piece driveshaft so it never happens again.
Am I a ricer for making my car better while maintaining it or should I just put the OE part back in like a normoid would?
That's a rhetorical question by the way I don't care what your opinion is.
>This means everybody who does anything more than change the oil on a V6 car is a EXACTLY THE SAME PERSON
Nobody is saying this. Nobody has anything bad to say about the people who treat them like normal cars. It's you retards who act like they're some slept on performance vehicle while comparing them to v8s at every opportunity. Every fucking form of coping is like it was pulled from a script. They all sound exactly the fucking same
the V6 LX bodys are slept on performance vehicles
the platform is literally a big tin top miata
It's a fat hunk of shit and slower than a camry
the xv10 v6 camry was one of the fastest 4-doors in the world at the time it was made, that's high praise.
LXs are RWD though so it doesn't matter if the camry is faster the mopar can sit there roasting its tires until it can no longer see the camry in the next lane.
all muscle
no mcdonalds shits
52:48 weight distribution
.85 hp/l
it's literally an nd miata scaled up 4x in ms paint
the v6s have more nimble handling so lowering them helps a lot, slapping on later mopar improvements like the pug intake helps improve fuel economy and power, nothing wrong with making a car a little better, especially with dodge because you know they left power and economy on the table
i still don't see where this mythological turbotard is who doesn't understand cars at all, goes and buys a v6 american coupe and then tries to make it behave like it has a different engine, my brother in christ you just swap the engine.
you buy the v6 cause it's smooth and quiet, it's a cruiser's dream. making it loud and rumbly like a v8 totally defeats the purpose. this fake bought a v6 but actually wanted a v8 guy doesn't post on LULZ, he seems to only be contained in obvious joke posts on facebook. everyone else just buys the v6 because it's actually functionally superior for the vast majority of driving conditions than a v8 retard rocket.
I can't understand this autism, is it truly all kitaa?
How did they make double wishbone worse than fords mcdonalds struts?
>weighs nearly twice as much as a miata
lol. lmao, even
Weight doesn't matter, it's not 1990 anymore
(You)
this is the LULZ equivalent of homosexual developers who dont bother making lightweight, efficient software or websites because why bother, as long as the processor is powerful enough to handle it it's all good
Slow is slow m8
That's a really cool story bro but I didn't ask
the term ricer has nothing to do with performance sir
as much as I appreciate V6's nice digits
>the V6 outsells the V8
THAT'S LITERALLY THE POINT YOU FUCKING MOUTH BREATHER
>modding lower trim cars is bad
for performance? sure. but for looks? it’s perfect. my v6 charger gets a lot more attention than you’d expect just because i chopped the springs and got shiny new wheels. cosmetic mods are 100% the “right path” when it comes to disposable cars like these.
>v6 charger/challenger
its gay
no amount of cope will change this
the charger, more so the challenger is the textbook definition of the muscle car, the looks, the price, the simplicity, the lack of "sporty" feel. and the main thing about being a muscle car is a american V8 engine. its like buying a pizza, without the tomato sauce. it might actually taste pretty nice, but its just not what you were expecting, its not a real pizza
The V6 takes 200 lbs off the front axle and restores the actual "sports car" feel, V8s are for cavemen who just want to mash gas pedal eat hot chip and giggle like kids.
If this were a choice between a ford DI turbo V6 and a port injected 8 I'd be with you but the Pentastar is based as hell, it was designed specifically to outperform the VQ (and every other n/a V6) just in case Renault Nissan bought Chrysler from Cerberus.
it's quite simple: the hemi is dying (or at least being re-engineered) and the Pentastar isnt going anywhere until Stellantis legally cannot build it anymore. That's the mark of a good engine.
>The V6 restores the actual "sports car" feel
It's like buying a refrigerator that doesn't get cold. It defeats the purpose entirely
the 3.6 is a fucking garbage engine that's half made of plastic and makes me (a mechanic) lots of money
There are literally like 4 plastic parts on it not counting the timing chain guides (so 8)
two can be replaced with aluminum parts and the plastic intake manis prevent heat soak which improves performance which is why all V8s have them too.
if naggers didn't exist to break shit you literally wouldn't have a job
it's not the Pentastar's oil coolers fault that retards exist.
Don't forget all the plastic cooling system parts like the coolant crossover and the thermostat housing. Change those all the time too, in addition to the oil coolers. Bonus if the owner leaves the oil cooler leaking for a long time and overheats it, which immediately warps the head
Yes there is the tstat housing (replace with the metal RAM one), the filter housing and cooler (replace with dorman metal one), and the crossover (also has aluminum dorman oe-fix part)
the rest of it is just as plastic as the hemi and coyote
You're not even bullying anyone retard
You're just being a completely generic auto forum turbohomosexual and laughing at yourself. Glad you're having fun, I won't stop you.
anon everyone can see you're the cope king here
the instant anyone mentions an engine you don't like you cry about it
the pentastar is based because its a dumb port injected old school rental minivan engine that goes hard like the mazda bp, honda k20, ford duratec, and nissan VQ.
theres 6 gorillion of em you could blow up a hundred a day with eBay turbos and still never run out. they are completely underappreciated because of how durable they must be to survive the kind of "people" who drive them. their performance potential is completely underutilized.
you are a dumb busrider stop posting any time
>cope king
I don't have anything to cope about, I bought a v8
pics
Sure. I picked it up a few months back but I'll probably part ways for with it soon. Thinking of a small block turd gen next, this v8 is a little too civilized.
>small block turd gen
Nice
All those cars are based and you clearly understand the value of having an internet argument for fun.
I don't cope either, I love my V6 Mopar and participating in the internet arguments it starts. They're good cars, I don't get what the problem is.
This mythological V6 owner who really wants a V8 instead doesn't exist.
>This mythological V6 owner who really wants a V8 instead doesn't exist
lol, lmao even
Literally find him and prove it, otherwise you're literally birthing a retard in your head and getting mad at them.
This mythological person who buys a V6 and does all this moronic expensive work just to make it "sound like a v8" is a product of your overactive imagination. Nobody fucking does that. Besides, all you need is a cat back and a ghost cam and you can rumble all day. Even the retard in your head is a particularly special retard.
Everyone in my city does this. The V6/4 cyl vs V8 ratio is like 8:1. They all have muffler delete and ricer shit done to try and cope with the fact that they dont have the V8. Dont misunderstand me, I think the V6 are cool cars genuinely, but I'm surprised you are saying these mythilogical V6 owners don't exist when they are the vast majority where I live. For what is worth, the car "community" where I live is...strange to say the least.
You are so full of shit it's comical. My close friends and I keep a chat open specifically laugh at you people. You homosexuals can't even enjoy your supposedly good cars without comparing them to v8s.
That gt350 clone is fucking ecoboost btw
The problem with those people is actually the people being overly self conscious wafflers not the cars themselves. I think the gt350 clone looks nice. The owner shouldn't be asking anybody else what their opinions are.
It's pretty much a Fiat Carolla
What cam in the 5.7 makes the most power?
Just get the 300 if you're gonna settle with a v6 because at least then you can claim you just want a comfy rwd cruiser
All
Cars
Are
Bad
You're on the wrong board then, bud.
What are the years to avoid for these? Been looking at buying one because it's a big 4 door. Insurance on a V6 would be cheaper what are some common bolt ons that'll wake it up a little?
You would want something 2015+ for much improved interior, I believe 2011+ for the 3.6L engine vs the 3.5L. I've own the SXT and RT (both challengers) but I know they are a lot of similarities in the charger for sure.
I forgot to say, since the charger's are all automatic, the 2015+ get the vastly improved transmission, the zf8 something, this is probably the most important change out of everything to be honest. then I would look at other stuff like open vs lsd diff (I dont know how it works in the charger tims cause they get AWD too)
The awd v8 charger all got the old 5 speed and 2 open 3.07 diffs, even the newer cop ones
sadly all V6 lxs are open diff, the clutchpack LSD from the 'cat needs it's fluid changed every 10k and your average shawneequa johnson ain't got time for that.
most have 2.62 ratio which is good on gas, AWD cars are 3.09 with a slight difference front and rear. sport pack V6s get a 3.08. all open.
You can put the 3.08 LSD in the AWD cars but you can't change the front diff, RWD cars can equip all diff ratios no problem.
The only trick is you need 5.7 axles regardless. they have the right number of splines for all V8 diffs but only they have hub end CV joints that will fit inside the V6's lower control arms. Hellcat axles are too big.
Avoid 2011-2012
Early Pentastars and even Hemis from those MY have lifter roller bearing problems.
2011-2014 are a weird combo of the Pstar and the old Mercedes NAG1.
2013 got an interior refresh
2015+ got another very kino interior refresh and the ZF8 trans that makes the Pstar really fun to drive
Good bolt ons for the Pstar:
>OE 17+ Pacifica/Durango lower intake mani
>Ripp, Accel, or MSD coil packs
>AFE Superstock or Mopar Hellcat lower airbox (w/ headlight tube)
>OE Hellcat LSD w/ 5.7 axles
>Diablo or HPtune
slightly smaller diameter tires will also help, go 45 instead of 55 or 60 and it feels like a fuckin racecar
Because you're buying a gimped versiojn. Having a V6 is like buying a Porsche Cayman. You don't do it unless you like being laughed at.
wrong
The V6 is the standard engine
the V8s are extra
you're just buying a car
No, the V8 is the standard, classic muscle car, and the V6 is the cuck option for people who don't have enough dineros in their bank account to afford anything that can go 0-60 in less than 10 seconds.
Uh no the V8 only comes in the extra performance trims. The V6 is the base car.
The platform is based on AMC Renault chassis engineering and Mercedes driveline and electronics. It has literally nothing in common with the old B-body Charger.
Base model doesn't mean standard model. Base model is the poor man's version of any given car that usually doesn't even come with power steering or air conditioning. The DX model or which ever one is the second highest is the one you want, and in this case that is the Challenger R/T. V8.
No, for the LX bodys the base model is the base car. All trim levels beyond the spoiler less cloth seat rental V6 are additional trim levels.
in 2015 only for example the V8 could be optioned on an SXT and given an R/T badge.
you have to be over 18 (or have an IQ higher than 18) to post on LULZ
>No, the base car is more expensive than the optioned car!
doubt
A top spec V6 AWD is more expensive than a base V8 and lower production than a Hellcat yet the V6s still outsell the V8s massively.
They are the backbone of the juggernaut that is the LX chassis and prove without a doubt that these are incredible cars any way you slice it.
a v6 is perfect for this size car. v8 is too much. v6 is the right balance. but, really, it should be a 615 kW (825 bhp), 1,300 N⋅m (960 lb⋅ft), 3-phase AC induction motor.
and that is just the starter motor
that's the motor that vibrates ur mum's dragon dildo
yeah and it goes so hard your mom can feel it
Some cars make sense with the smaller engine. Like the T4 mustang. Enough power to still be fun and more importantly better weight distribution for great cornering.
The shitbarg in your pic is useless without the largest engine in it. It can't turn at all so might as well go full drag race mode.
they handle very well what are you even talking about
Into a ditch sure but that's not where most want to drive their car.
they really don't handle bad at all, it's basically a 90s mercedes s-class that isn't biodegradable
it's not a fuckin flattened pickup truck like American cars from the muscle car days
The standard for a modern sports car shouldn't be a 90's euroboat.
it's not the standard that's literally the car the suspension is copied from
You say that like it's a good thing.
it is
>What's wrong with the V6?
nothing. its completely fine for a RWD daily driver with a bit of power but still decent enough MPGs on regular octane gasoline. say goodbye to that once you move up to the R/T
