I always wonder how “good,” these people are IRL
Like certainly he can play bass, but if you spend 100 hours in your bedroom doing retake after retake perfecting some meme style bass cover where you’re layering track after track on top of it, how does that translate into playing out in the wild
I remember reading an interview where an old boomer guitarist was talking about working with some of the young buck tiktok zoomie guitarists and he said that it was really frustrating because when you have infinite takes to record something online you can play and play until it’s perfect, but when it came time to get on stage and play they couldn’t really hack it and they sounded really mediocre
Yeah but if you just sit there and play “spooky scary skeletons bass cover” over and over and over youre not practicing anything of substance. I mean I get it, practice is practice, but if anything I think these people have more production skill than instrumental skill
>if you just sit there and play “spooky scary skeletons bass cover” over and over and over youre not practicing anything of substance
so what does practicing with 'substance' entail?
I was gonna ask this. Some Youtube music guys have bands, albums, maybe they teach or whatever. But then you have dudes like this guy who are basically are stunt artists. He's self taught and doesn't normally play with others either. I wonder what he'd sound like if he had to sit in with a jazz group or something. I feel like more accomplished Youtube memesters like Berthoud or Navarro would be better at it.
i cant believe people actually watch these kinds of youtube channels
just because you're 'into' music doesnt mean you have to give these people attention
Why are music youtubers so fucking cringe
Do zoomers really think nerds like this guy, the two violin homosexuals and fantano are funny/entertaining? >SLAP le bass xdddd
Not even considering the music topics, quick-cut sound-effect Youtube joke channels are basically peak algorithm bait. The 12yos or third-worlders or whoever watche those things drive YT content creation. That's why any YT channel that goes all-in trying for max clicks eventually turns into entertainment for babies.
I respect the violin homosexuals at least. They have a real music education and they know what they're talking about.

its the same as language channels and history channels
people may get into them because of genuine curiosity or wanting to learn but you dont learn by just sitting in front of a screen watching a man talk and eventually all channels like this become about the personality behind it rather than any education
>asian gf

Practicing things that challenge you for the sake of improvement
>but when it came time to get on stage and play they couldn’t really hack it and they sounded really mediocre

Yeah and it was pretty much just the same memes and skits from their YouTube channels
I mean its the same as studio albums vs playing live.

youtube is horrible for learning a skill
That's why you watch gear shows like the JHS pedal show and it's literally just wholesome fun while you learn about gear and gear history
This guy has the worst deadpan “humour”
