They have several tribes amongst them that clam descent from Arabs and one guy named Samaale, they were the among first non-Arabs to convert to Islam. Befor Islam, they worshipped a god named Waaq along with a decent amount of the rest of East Africa. They were probably the location of the Land of Punt and in the Herodotus' accounts they were known as the Macrobians. They've had a pertually rivalry with the Ethiopians since time in memoriam and like most Horners they physically distuiguish themselves from other Subsaharans by their stature, faces, and looser curled hair.

Like most of the Horn and Sudan they have significant West Eurasian ancestry fron Natufians and being in the middle of the East African trade and ancestry from Nilotics.

      >they were the among first non-Arabs to convert to Islam.
Not true. Somalis embraced Islam somewhere around the 16th century
      >They were probably the location of the Land of Punt
Outdated theory. New research shows that the Land of Punt was located along the Eritrean coast, not Somalia
      >in the Herodotus' accounts they were known as the Macrobians
There’s no evidence that the Macrobians were Somalis, Herodotus was most likely referring to the Nubians.
      >They've had a pertually rivalry with the Ethiopians since time in memoriam
Not true either. Somalis are not mentioned in Ethiopian records, the Ethiopian royal chronicles describe the inhabitants of the eastern Muslim polities as being Harla, Afar, Arab and Werijh.

Somalis were overwhelmingly nomadic pastoralists from the antiquity until now. There was a few city states that developed on the coasts and after they embraced Islam a number of clan based sultanates began to rise in the interior, but that’s pretty much it.

This and cities that were built were built by Jareers ironically.

Mogadishu, Zeila and Kismayo were originally Arab-Persian inhabited ports. Along with the rest of the Swahili city states.

Swahilis are not jareers and they did not build any cities. If you’re going to say jareer at least use it in the right context

Ok so I post source and what's your rebuttal. Also to Zoomali it can mean any hair that a bit krinkly or nose a bif wider etc. They call each other this if one looks "Black" enough.

That is not the definition of jareer and your source was untrue. That’s my rebuttal. All you have to is define the word correctly

Ok source proving it? They were Zanjs/Bantus, Swahilis are essentially mixed zanjis/arabs.

The burden of proof is on you. You made the claim. I’m unsure what the genetic makeup of Swahilis has to do with the term jareer? The Swahilis in Somalia are not zanji/arab mixed either. It does not apply to them. You’d know this if you knew what the word meant.

Somalis embraced Islam during the 7th century when Muhammed’s followers built a mosque in the north of the country. Pretending Somalis and Ethiopians haven’t hated each other since the dawn of time is weird.

There’s no evidence that Somalis embraced Islam in the 7th century AD, the claim that the mosque in Zeila was built in the 7th century is apocryphal. The Ethiopian-Somali conflict is post modern, the Abyssinians and Somalis only came into consistent contact with each other during the late 19th century. Stop reading Wikipedia pages
