M1 Air is great but this is a bit better in every way if you can afford to go for it. M2 Air is a luxury product. The design is beautiful in person, although I would not go for that midnight colour due to finger marks and scratches.

        literally none

        >luxury product
        it's cheaper than m1 pro
        only poorgays buy airs

For people who don't need power, the air is a luxury product, becasue it's portable and beautiful.

i only bought the air one (with 16gb because apple made 8 unusable) for portable shit and i see no use for it outside portable coding which is pretty light
there is no point in buying the pro, don't fall for the meme

I have the pro. I don't however think it's the right choice for everyone, if their main concern is portability over power.

Nowhere did I say the 14 is not portable. I claimed the Air, at 1.2kg is more portable than 1.6kg. Are you denying this fact?

It's a lot to spend on a laptop. The only exceptions are mobile workstations with a CAD-optimized GPU like Quadro, business laptops that are extra durable and optimized for easy servicing like Dell Latitudes, or gaming laptops with powerful GPUs. This is none of those.

Could you help with more model/map (same thing) format support.
A Russian seems to be trying to get it to compile and run on TerryOS. He allready seems to have networking working: guess he's using the Temple OS branch that has the TCP:IP stack.

If he succeeds and tells us we'll include his source branch on the ISO and a binary.

I can't do that map support alone tho: I allready did Wolfenstine:Enemy Territory and that's enough from me this year on the engine (2 people have allready gone insane working on the vanilla version of the engine). I have weap models to do.

Under constant development for 10 years.
Looking for contributors: the engine source code is on the iso in git_repos_both.zip (the game code source is also on the ISO too).

Anyone can help: and we need it. Because the engine makes people go crazy.

    Depends on what you want.
The entry level M1 air is still a fantastic choice if you don't need more than 8gb of RAM and 256GB of SSD.
Even with 16gb and 512gb it's a pretty good deal.
What paying you extra gets you on an M2 is a faster processor (duh), a nicer screen (brighter and nicer colors, allegedly), magsafe, better webcam and a slightly larger battery (but a slightly more power hungry chip at max load so it evens out).
    >notch
Honestly the notch doesn't really bother me, the area on the sides of the notch being used by context menus and headers means you're not really losing anything.

The real problem with the M2 is that it's not much cheaper than an entry M1 Pro and for that money you get a LOT more not just in performance but in nice to haves like a gorgeous screen, good connectivity and very good speakers.
If you get a binned M2 that difference gets a bit larger and those two extra cores will get you nothing once the thing's heat saturated anyway, so that's what I'm thinking of getting, binned cpu and 16/512GB.
Maybe do the thermal pad mod and use one of the laptop cooling things I have lying around for when I'm at home.

      >The entry level M1 air is still a fantastic choice if you

How is 2500 us dollars for an 8gb ram laptop a good choice? My 69 dollar macs from 2011 have that much ram; (upgradeable to 16) and CPU speeds have been stagnant for 10 solid years.

How are you justifying this waste of taxpayer and worker money?

The M1 etc only have better performance on the 2 applications that have been compiled to use their on-chip algos for video and photo manipulation.

Is that worth 2.5 months of pay?

        >2500
What are you smoking? it's 1000 bux.
It's fast and it's got a fantastic battery, that's why people were interested in the M1.

          >What are you smoking? it's 1000 bux.
          >It's fast and it's got a fantastic battery, that's why people were interested in the M1.

Last time I bought a 1400 dollar laptop: the power connector broke quickly and so did the hinge I think.

I've stayed with 300 dollar laptops since then.

          >It's fast and it's got a fantastic battery, that's why people were interested in the M1.
Batteries fk up pretty quickly. Apples and HP seem to be abit better than most however. Guess their charging circuits aren't moronic.

          I don't see how it's worth 1k though.
The screen can break easy too.

          Why pay that much?
When you want colour accuracy you also want a huge screen to see details: 32 inches at least.
No one makes a 32 inch screen laptop. They should. But they don't
