I have to wear clothes, why not wear clothes that fit, look good, flatter me, clothes I like? They make you feel more confident and you enjoy wearing them, some outfits are actually fun to wear.

It shows you care about your appearance and attracts people that also care about theirs. This often translates into interesting friendships or relationships, compared to just wearing random chit from Walmart that badly fits or just looks terrible. Also this doesn’t have to be expensive, it’s more about fit, style, consistency. Unless you’re into conspicuous consumption of fashion to “mog” others. It’s also cool to find niche companies that make a bit different products, even though it’s all often manufactured in the same sweatshop

    >Social Liquidity

It’s the easiest way to verify if someone is a crackhead or a man-child moron. Dressing well makes it easier to socialise with respected members of your community.

I genuinely enjoy it. It’s one of the rare creative activities I have in my life, and it develops an eye for aesthetics, which is a more useful skill to have than most realize. Social benefits are a plus too, you know what everyone thinks about someone who dresses like a dirty slob. I try to consoom mostly from second hand shops but there’s no ethical consumption under capitalism anyways.

    >be younger me
    >dress solely to impress women/get attention
    >got nothing
    >be current me
    >dress how I like with no regard for what looks objectively good
    >compliments/attention nonstop
not even good looking so I can’t use that as an excuse

i mostly dress for myself, the fact that i live somewhere with shitty weather, and center my style around things i actually do or used to do (hiking, logging, construction)
but its REALLY easy to out-dress everyone else in the pacific northwest, it gets me female attention i would have otherwise never gotten as a manlet, why not?

I enjoy creating an image for myself that you can see instantly by looking at my clothes. My fashion is an extension of my personality and mind, like art, that I can wear on my body.

People treat you dramatically different. Not always better. Used to work retail and wore casual dickies work pants and cheap button ups. Got hassled for it constantly. People without any self respect will try and make other people debase themselves. Pure crabs in the bucket mentality.

Dress like you respect yourself. If you don’t care about you how would anyone else?

I’m ugly and I can’t do nothing about that, but I can be more presentable by choosing the cute clothes that fit me

Boredom and the need for some kind of distraction because otherwise my life isn’t very interesting. Depression made me care about fashion as a cope basically.

It comes natural to me to want to dress in a way that reflects my personality and interests, also the compliments are a nice added bonus and make me feel even more confident about myself and my stylistic choices and has shown me people will think anything you may consider weird can be cool unless you overdo it
Initally i used to buy overpriced stuff but lately i’ve been thrifting a lot and it makes it even more fun and rewarding to try and make nice outfits

I’m extremely narcissistic and I like how choosing how I dress gives me power over what people think when they first see me

i like to buy nice, functional, good-looking clothes and enjoy getting compliments from strangers in the mall or the furniture store for my sick fits

Because I have a customer facing job where I sell expensive shit to rich people and I have to fit in with them so they trust me.

For me, I’ve always loved good design and clothing, at least the well-crafted kind, is basically art that you can wear. Everybody has to wear clothing, might as well wear clothes that I genuinely love.

Because it actually makes me want to get up, go out and do something. Even something as small as a walk or grocery shopping. When I’m just lazying around in a pair of sweatpants and tshirt I just don’t feel like doing anything besides sitting on the couch or at the computer.
