      Everyone will be dead

Doubt it, the heatwave will kill the fatties first when they die of heat stroke from their body’s thick layers of insulation

Hard to predict trends, but I’d wager more athleisure type clothing (not really athletic clothes, but stretchy clothes for fatties), more synthetic materials (especially after the water wars start), and hopefully designs for hot and humid weather since it keeps getting hotter.

this planet is covered in water, even moreso with global warming. there will never be wars, it’ll just become marginally more expensive because we’ll have to desalinate it.

This will probably be true. Let’s hope the coasties are forced to pay for the bulk of desalination efforts. Cotton will probably be affected the most given its growth in The South and California. Hemp and bamboo providing more usable fabric per area will make them king if farmers decide to make the switch and fabric-producers stop up-selling to eco-brands.

Tailored printed clothing: will be HUGE. People can order the perfect fit for cheap, off the rack stuff be for poors.

Smart clothing: It will be profitable mostly for monitoring vitals for discounts on health insurance for entire companies and to predict diseases but will also be used for AR graffiti.

Body mods: Obesity and aging will be cured superficially mostly, people will look like elves and anime if they have the money but it often look uncanny.
Freaks start getting tails, pointed ears, smart tattoos, skin dying, hooves and horns. People will actually want to look like devils.

Gaming guilds: They will become the frats and sports teams of the future, they will start to have their own lines of clothing much like sports wear. What gaming guilds you associate with will be an absolutely massive deal to the average teenager.

Augmented reality: it becomes the shitposting place of future, like VR chat meets Google Maps, as every sign and street symbol goes virtual.

Indeed you can wear whatever you want, but it’s like telling someone ‘say whatever you want’– it’s true that you can but what you say is meaningful in how the world treats and understands you. If you say the wrong thing to someone, you may end up in a lot of trouble or be given opportunities you didn’t expect.

Clothing is a language that is broadcasting a message about yourself to the rest of the world.

Well I agree, there are pieces of clothing that age pretty well. Suits, jeans, chore jackets, plain tees, sweatshirts, and plain sneakers are probably going to age well. If you would have wore any of those things 30 years ago you probably would have been okay, and you’ll probably be okay wearing those 30 years from now. Plain clothes are going to age well.

I donno, if you were running around with 1992 stuff people would think you were a time traveler. Retro-suits are often very dorky or old mannish; while vintage suits come off as more of costume.

Pretty much anything old people or fat people wear– it’s orge for being fashionable.

The internet’s turned fashion into an ever-expanding buffet. Just pick a style and go from there. Nothing’s truly in or out anymore.

It’s hard to predict shit, but I think the main thing is fashion niches will become more accessible. And if obesity continues to be an issue I see oversized clothing becoming more normalized in order to hide the shame
Something to keep in mind that over the last 40 years or so people have honestly been wearing the same shit for the most part. What goes on in fashion is not what goes on in real life, so in 5-10 years we’re all still gonna be weirdos wearing our extra ass shit, but there’s just gonna be more niches and trends to have fun with. Personally I mostly just see men getting more options to catch up with women’s clothing, but more of the general same over the next 5-10 years. It’s nice to see that clothing is moving away from spotlighting and more towards creating an interesting outfit that all goes together, so I see a lot of individual pieces being interesting while remaining versatile.
Techwear will not be what people wear in the future not matter how much you want it to be normalized. It’s genuinely too practical to be practical.
