Apparently the future of "real Unix" is only being able to use the built-in GPU, and that GPU that's notably weaker than the competition and incapable of features that other GPUs have had for years.
they changed it and the new gcd is essentially apple only but you can use the old one still to this day to produce binaries which will assess the SIMD capabilities of GPUs and CPUs and automatically make the code "go" on all of them for max perfs.
It's brilliant. You can use GCD's abstractions and it will deploy anywhere and automagically use all available vector processing units.
apple changed grand central dispatch, but the old version is still "good" and fully cross platform for accelerating maths using whatever hardware the computer running the program has, because it's all abstracted
what?
https://github.com/apple/swift-corelibs-libdispatch/blob/main/INSTALL.md >freebsd >linux
if they make apple-only gcd, they break all swift crossplatform support since swift multithreading is gcd based
Back when companies cared about real Unix it basically meant you bought a license from AT&T or descended from Berkeley Unix, which was a 100% rewrite as courts eventually found. Later on the Open Group would "bless" your Unix as Unix if you underwent some, apparently largely POSIX-derived stress test. But this didn't even guarantee source compatibility until the SUS or Single Unix Specification came later. By that time Linux was the de-facto Unix with the BSDs in close second, and the proprietary Unix OS's were on the wane. These days, correct me if I'm wrong, but these days there are only about three or four closed source Unixes. Solaris, AIX, AT&T's Unix 11th edition which is used in the phone system and has NEVER been public. And maybe one other which I feel I'm forgetting. But Unix is Linux + BSD now.

Source code can be looked at and used.
It has offshoots such as NetBSD/OpenBSD and FreeBSD which have exceptionally permissive licenses and are open for anyone to use.
This has caused companies such as Apple and Sony to use the code from the above projects extensively in their commercial ventures.
Real actual Unix is a buggy usability nightmare, so much so that people would install GNU shit on proprietary Unix flavors because it was a huge improvement.
lion a shit

GPUs are for children though. We’re talking real Unix here, go back to playing Fortnite.
I'm taking the bait to say this:
This type of moronness is common on IQfy. newbies, beware of his and others' stupidity.
>grand central dispatch
This is why Applel just cant name projects. Absolute cringe.

hockeysux on itanic hasn't technically sunk yet, believe it or not
Real Unix has never been tried
Very unintuitive outside the terminal.
If it wasn't for stallman we'd be paying apple for their unix servers probably
GPL v3 is c**t

cope seethe and dilate

What's the fricking deal with Unix? why does everyone suck it's wiener I don't understand

"Certified" "Unix" is meaningless.
Bullshit. Maybe on old versions, but anything past 5 is better.
garbage
unix sucks for desktop and apple only has 10% marketshare due to their iphone-centered ecosystem
if someone wants to try real unix then install some of these
HP-UX
IBM AIX
Sun Solaris (+ opensolaris/openindiana)
novell UnixWare
Real Unix? You sure you don't mean UNIX®
This is real Unix
