The best of the power trios and the best of the late seventies Punk era. Stewart Copeland as a drummer is still unmatched 50 years later with his
sound and upside down reggae type beats. Sting can write better pop songs then anybody else. Andy Summers was the responsible mature adult that enabled those two warring childish personalities to coexist for Five albums. Thank you for reading my blog smash the like button
I give Rush the edge as a power trio from that era
The Police are great, 3 incredible musicians and Sting as primary songwriter and still better than the sum of their parts
On the flip side they imploded too quickly and they were heavily derivative considering every British rock band of that era seemed to want to be a reggae band
>rush has no good or memorable songs except Tom Sawyer.
Could not possibly disagree more, won't try to list them all but Rush managed a 2 album greatest hits disc that was all great, memorable songs
The best pop band of that era. They have three 9/10 albums in Zenyatta, Reggatta, and Synchronicity. Ghost is a 8/10 and the debut is a 7/10. About 60 percent of what they wrote were 10/10 singles. Stewart Copeland is enough to give them legendary status.
>One of my favorite guitarists >One of my favorite drummers >And Sting (my dad loves the guy)
As a band they're fine, their CBGB's adjacent stuff is loads of fun, their new wave caribbean extravaganza is may be shit sometimes, but when it's great, it's fucking great
Stewart is the best drummer ever, no one comes close. His drumming is not noticed because it fits into the music so well, in contrast to someone like Neil Peart who is off on his own and just showboats and ignores the rhythm job of drums.
Andy is the best clean sound guitarist ever, no one comes close. Hugely underrated. Trained in jazz he has beautifully textured chords. Great inventiveness and rock energy in everything he did on 2nd & 3rd albums. His guitar riffs makes such a huge impact on the sound of the songs that he deserves writing credit.
Sting is a brilliant songwriter. Very skilled in using his voice as a singer in calipos style.
1st album they all 3 shared writing credit, they were just finding themselves as a band. Sting clearly took charge as songwriter on that album
Regatta de Blanc and Zenyatta Mondatta are their best albums. Just all around perfect. So many great riffs from Andy. Such a huge diverse style of songs from Sting.
Ghost in the Machine was mostly done with synthesizers. It has a more sterile machine like sound. But Stewarts drumming still came through and made the songs sound great. Andy was very limited in what he could do with synthesizers but his style managed to peak through a little. It was still a good album but really gutted out in style compared to the previous two albums due to the synths.
Synchronicity was Stings first solo album. Totally bland and commercial sounding. Both Stewart and Andy were totally removed from any creative input. Nothing good to say about this album, its elevator music and nothing more. A really sad end to a great band.
>Totally bland and commercial sounding.
I'll agree with that description on Every Breath You Take King of Pain and Wrapped Around Your Finger, but title track I and II are incredible, and the rest of the album is quite decent

Dont even at me

Stewart Copeland's dad is literally a founder of the CIA
great drummer but he glows hard
catchy fusion of jazz, reggae, new wave, punk.
for me its
Chads larping as incels to sell records.
Steve Albinibros.....I feel like I just ate McDonalds.....
RdB > GitM = Synch > ZM > OdA
(but they're all pretty good)
I love message in a bottle (save for the bad production, the live versions are so much better)
I don't care about the rest of their songs
>the live versions are so much better
That's a hallmark of the Police even when they had great production
The best bands are almost always better live

One of the best rock trio’s ever. Not as good as Cream or Rush, but definitely up there. Copeland is a Top 25 drummer of all time.
>zoomers discovered the police

Synchronicity is a perfect album.
Haters will hate but that's the truth.
total CIA plant band, but I'm 100% ok with my tax dollars going to that.
Early singles, compilation tracks, and first two albums are their best.
