Thought that was going to actually be a cool happening 1 year later no one is talking about it all just AI... Where did it go wrong?
Whatever happened to the Metaverse?

>where did Second Life in VR go wrong?
Conception.
lack of porn
VR porn kinda sucked but maybe when it gets interactive with AI animation it would be cool.
If you ever thought Metaverse was going to be cool you were in a small minority of retards
Almost everybody said it looked like shit from the very beginning
Well I meant more the entire VR/AR industry. Meta is just the biggest push behind it (which is probably bad for its reputation)
Zuck bought 8 gamedev studios ad they delivered 0 games and closed a few of them permanently
Yeah that was retarded I don't understand why gamers weren't the prime target. I mean who else is going to pay that much money for a VR headset.
The only real future is videogames, i think the equipment is too expensive and the controls too janky for it to hit mainstream just yet. META wasted a lot of money on an idiotic platform instead of advancing the hardware.
It would have to start in the game spheres a lot of modern day social media was modeled off the social environments of old school games like WOW believe it or not.
These sort of social simulator games can only really start out in gamer scenes where people are willing to pay lots for tech and invest in learning the kinks then once those are worked out they can mainstream it
VRChat is a thing and there's no value in using headsets for glorified zoom meetings when zoom exists. Degens use VRChat for their e-boi roleplay, corporate normie types stick to zoom.
I used VR chat and zoomers were mean to me haven't been on since...
>that Matrix chat platform was advertised as a VR ready chat at some point
It's literally already been a thing for years,
Vrchat & second life & imvu & roblox for zoomers & whateverthefuck else already accomplished a true metaverse years/decades ago. Facebook just slapped their name on the word "metaverse" and made everybody think they were the sole company doing it, so when they did their rebranding a while back and then never followed up with it everyone just forgot about it.
Yeah they were doing what a lot of places had already done but they invested billions into it where did all that money go?
>where did all that money go?
probably zuck's autism who struggled to implement legs for some reason when vrchat had working penetration systems
what they really need is to work on the hand controls. If they could have gloves that could simulate pressure the experience would be unreal
>no creative freedom
>completely barebones
>run by a billionaire lizardman with no sense of humor or self-awareness who claimed it would be 'the next big thing'
>just looks shit in general
Gee, I wonder.
Facebook built a platform so unappealing, ugly, and sanitized that absolutely nobody wanted to use it. Normies just aren't interested in spending a lot of time in VR. And the weird people and the creative types just use vrchat where they can make and do their own thing without needing permission from daddy zuck.
Investors were so busy salivating over monetization potential that they forgot that you had to actually make something that people want to use before you can start bending them over the table
Shitty project aimed to normies, lead by a company hated by everyone, owned by a lizard man with zero awareness of the social life of their target audience. What could go wrong?
