It will never cease to shock me that her tormentors didn't get the death penalty, regardless of penal code in Japan at the time. That was simply horrific, people that are capable of such a crime or not fit for life in a civilized society.

Good old Gertrude is the American equivalent. It's every bit as cruel if not moreso considering it happened on a longer time frame.
That amerimutt b***h was also more than adult when she had Sylvia Likens tortured and mutilated. She was an old busted hag even back then. And guess what, the American penal code let her get off with a slap on the wrist because thats what it always does when a precious white woman turns babykiller or sadistic murder.
      >t, Likens was forced to insert an empty glass Coca-Cola bottle into her vegana in the presence of the Baniszewski stairs to the kitchen.... she said: 'You branded my children so now I'm going to brand you.' "
--Richard Hobbs, testifying as to Gertrude Baniszewski's decision to carve an insult into Likens' abdomen on October 23, 1965.[24]

"You have branded my daughters; now I am going to brand you." She began carving the words "I'M A PROSTITUTE AND PROUD OF IT" onto Likens' abdomen with a heated needle.[68][69]
      >Due to the increase in the frequency and brutality of the torture and mistreatment Likens was subjected to, she gradually became incontinent.[53] She was denied any access to the bathroom, being forced to wet herself. As a form of punishment for her incontinence, on October 6, Gertrude threw Likens into the basement and tied her up. Here, Likens was often kept naked, rarely fed, and frequently deprived
      >The torture and murder of Sylvia Likens is widely regarded by Indiana citizens as the worst crime ever committed in their state and has been described by a senior investigator in the Indianapolis Police Department as the "most sadistic" case he had ever investigated in the 35 years he served with the Indianapolis Police.

        >The autopsy of Likens' body revealed she had suffered in excess of 150 separate wounds across her entire body, in addition to being extremely emaciated at the time of her death.[24] The wounds themselves varied in location, nature, severity, and the stage of healing. Her injuries included burns, severe bruising, and extensive muscle and nerve damage. Her veganal cavity was almost swollen shut.[102] Moreover, all of Likens' fingernails were broken backwards[n 8] and most of the external layers of skin upon the child's face, breasts, neck, and right knee had peeled or receded. In her death throes, Likens had evidently bitten through her lips, partially severing sections of them from her face.[103][60]

        >Taking Gertrude's good conduct in prison into account, the parole board marginally voted in favor of granting her parole. She was released from prison on December 4, 1985.[163

Frick, I remember this one, too, every one involved deserved to hang, and the main b***h needed to be tortured to death just like she did to Sylvia. I don't care if some were kids, how could you do shit like this to another person?

b***h got what she deserved. Reddit is that way moralgays.

Frick off, she literally did nothing and was brutally tortured to death. Your fetishes are not reflective of moral society.

Japan's justice system is generally harsh. They just have some points of divergence with the West. Even in liberal countries, torture-murder is taken seriously.

Japan has much higher conviction rates but more lenient sentences. Rape is 3-5 years, murder is 10-20, but if you are accused of one of these crimes an entire squad of detectives will sweat you for weeks until you crack.

It works because nobody commits a crime if they know they're going to get caught.

wasn't she a massive bawd so it's safe to assume she had it coming?

      Anonymous

Citation needed. Never found anything saying she was a bawd, rather the opposite that all her time was taken up preparing for her future, working, studying, etc.
She turned a guy down, who was a notoriously bad student and known to be a bad person, constantly saying he had ties to yakuza, and so he kidnapped her and his gang of psycho friends brutally tortured, raped, sodomized, and starved her for ~40 days until she died.

I can't find any version that mentions that, if you can find one that would be an interesting detail, but that doesn't make her a bawd right off the bat, even if true. She very well could have often stayed with female friends, just as it could be assumed she was hoeing around by that sort of information. I would lean towards the former as she was described as a fairly model student, very few absences and good grades, as well as friendly and well liked by others. If you don't know, bullying in japanese schools can be quite brutal, there are many testimonies about it from japanese people that you can find on youtube. As a kind of conservative culture, I'm sure she would not have been nearly so popular if she was a bawd.
Neither does it seem she would have the time to be a bawd, she worked after school and had a post graduation job lined up, and seeing as she had good grades she must have also studied.
What is said is that 2 days after she was kidnapped her parents reported her missing. I'm not sure if the same misconception is popular in Japan, but in America there is a popular misconception that police will not pursue a missing person's case until 48 hours have passed, which leads many people to wait to report a missing person. If that misconception is also present in Japan, that could have been why.
Later, she was forced to call them and, under duress, tell them that she had run away, and was fine and staying with friends, as well as to call off the police investigation.
Her captors also targeted and raped other random women, and were generally violent and scummy people.

I remember reading an article a long time about "the other side of junko furuta", but I guess it was either total bullshit or it was about a completely different case that I mistook with her's since I can't find any info about this version

I can't confirm, but I have read rumors that at least one of the perpetrators of her brags about what he did to her. One is a repeat offender having been reincarcerated since being released from prison after stabbing a guy, I don't remember exactly if the two described above are the same person. Getting to the point, it could have been slander by one of the perpetrators who tortured and killed her, then maybe taken down later. That's just a theory based on the rumors that one of them still brags about what he did to her. If I recall, all of her classmates attended her funeral begrieved, so I think it seems unlikely one of her classmates would write something like that.

Not a murderer, but quite a story
    > He developed an obsession for a young Cuban-American tuberculosis patient, Elena "Helen" Milagro de Hoyos (July 31, 1909 – October 25, 1931), that carried on well after her death.[1] In 1933, almost two years after her death, Tanzler removed Hoyos' body from its tomb, and lived with the corpse at his home for seven years until its discovery by Hoyos' relatives and authorities in 1940
