What the fuck is wrong with arch linux?
pacman -Syy and I get the top half of the screen, all errors.
archinstall and I get the bottom half, a clusterfuck of errors.
What is this shit?
>inb4 hahaha using archinstall should of done it the real way
That way is fucked too
Just use Debian like a normal human being.
No i want to ascend to arch Chad-dom
I have been using Manjaro and it is alright
Now I am acquainted with the AUR it would be a waste to stop now
>No i want to ascend to arch tranny-dom
fixed
Can you help me anon or not?
>rent free

First make a proper wiki
Just use Ubuntu like a normal human being.
>could not resolve host
>could not resolve host
>could not resolve host
Your networking is fucked you retard. Fix your DNS resolution.
I dunno how to do that.
Okay thanks but I just went into installation again to do so and now I have pic rel. And it is just stuck there. So no wifi fixing now. Every time I have tried arch is has been cursed Holy fuck.
>use arch
>don't know complete basic shit
>blame arch
Fuck off
Arch had a perfectly good beginner tutorial but they took it down due to this kind of autism.
Good
I have no fucking idea what is going on.
You need an internet connection to install Arch, I believe. Connect your PC to the internet and reboot.
Cant help you if you get a kernel panic.
Youre just going to have to live without arch.
breh follow the installation guide on the wiki, if you can’t follow it you either have unsupported hardware or you’re just not skilled enough to use Arch, googling the errors that pop up usually tells you what’s wrong
>can't even connect to the Internet
>wants to become an archtroon
Are you for real, my fren?
Try running iwctl or whatever command it was, can't remember it right now and don't really care to be honest
Mate if you read the thread (like you guys tell others to read the wiki lol) you will see I have connected to the Internet and installed it. There is a neofetch above your post.
Either you re using an experimental kernel or that your live usb's root partition doesnt work
>initramfs unpacking failed: invalid magic at start of compressed package
your install media is failing
Connect to wifi or plug in an ethernet cable
I rebooted and it actually gave me the proper arch install screen now whereas before it was black with white text now it had the icon logo and the blue and grey layout. Now it is going more smoothly. Dunno why that reboot helped. Thanks anon.

>should of
does anyone actually use that non-ironically?
Yeah I did it ironically it was a hurr durr inb4 you have to do bad grammar.
This shit annoys me. You reach out for help and they tell you to do your own research. Like bro, this is my research. To reach out and ask for help with an issue.
learn how to take a screenshot retard
also it's not recognizing your ethernet card, you need to include drivers in ISO or reboot to see if it just skipped over it
happens with onboard cards that have weird reset functions

FUCKING ON ME WAY NOW LADS!!!
are you on a surface?
if so download the linux-surface kernel when you get in, it'll enable power management and usually helps with touchpad stuff
https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface
Think pad x220
I have been googling them but no luck. You guys have, shockingly, been very helpful.
H-hey guys! it's arch fault that I didn't plug in my ethernet cable!
It says it can't download the database, so most likely you are not connected to the Internet.

AND HE SAID LET THERE BE ARCH AND THERE WAS ARCH AND HE SAW IT AND IT WAS GOOD

Okay like a pleb I installed arch but did minimal install and didn't add a desktop environment. It boots straight to the tty. I downloaded xfce vut on reboot it goes straight to a tty again.
Did you install a display manager?
I did after this came up and it spazzed out as said that lightdm had failed to launch
You were new once too anon. 🙂
You have to setup xorg or wayland before using a DE
Yep and xorg and it's server failed to launch too. It's okay. I reinstalled using archinstall and selected desktop version with xfce. Xfce is shit but it's up and running I suppose. Thanks anon.
xfce is not shit and is probably your best option if with i52520
>could not resolve host
how could you post something this embarrassing?
he posted his thinkpad TN panel
>this is my way of researching
>gets handheld by spoon feeding retards
youre not connected to the wifi dipshit. read the iwd archwiki page and learn to solve your own problems instead of making a bloat thread that could have been resolved in one google search
I learned more from the actual helpful anons here than I from googling each error.
If you don't have the installation guide in front of you, you're doing it wrong. It is step by step and exhaustive.
Good you got it working, but if you keep asking for help every step of the way, people are going to see you as a timesink who won't seek knowledge for themself.
Why'd you use a non noob distribution when you're a noob yourself? If you had the skill / interest in what you're doing you'd actually do it instead of coming here to be spoon fed and learn nothing in the process?
I grew out of that phase and switched back to windows with Ubuntu WSL. You will too
This guy couldnt install gentoo.
It literally tells you what is wrong, that's what error messages are for. Read them, put the information in your brain, and go from there.
