It's surprisingly creative and not overly corny for something made by evangelical Protestant southerners. Still not a big fan, but honestly impressed that some Texas evangelicals decided to make a post rock album
People way exaggerate the religious element. Some of it is treated unironically but it clearly has a sense of humor and element of satire. {I mean look at the cover) It's like the conversation has recently swung all the way from it being a parodic localized in-joke to it being a dead serious christian statement. But the reality is somewhere in the middle.
is it really that religious or something more like Sufjan Stevens, where there's lot of religious references/elements but I still wouldn't classify it as "Christian music"
It's hard to believe it's tongue in cheek with how beautiful some of the music and lyrics are

Yeah that's probably true I guess, still I would classify it as Christian music, and I would assume that they are not Catholic or mainline Proddys.
