When enough people voluntarily give up their old stuff since they effectively cant repair/use it anymore, then the real bans get put down but by then its too late to do anything about it.
If you really want to plan for this, you need to get some 3d printers and build a whole machine shop so you can fabricate your own stuff and repair old stuff by salvaging donor parts from other people's junk.
