A garden of pomegranates is just the condensed model of hermetic qabalah, it's important to have a solid model your paradigm can rely on, and that did it for me.
If you read and learn from every source without having a pivotal model from where to draw or connect correspondences, you'll just end up with a messy paradigm and that makes magic an almost impossible task. Not only that but having a messy paradigm just stunts your spiritual growth, it makes you miss things.
