Music bombards me with overwhelming mental imagery beyond my control. Colors, motion, sometimes scenes. It has since I was very little, maybe as long as I can remember. I have not been able to find anyone else who experiences this. Often I can't listen to music while trying to focus or work because it is so overstimulating. Hard to work when you are experiencing extreme ASMR-like physical sensations and vivid, intrusive, impossible to ignore mental imagery.

Plenty of people experience synesthesia, they're just told to shut up about it by those who don't.

ADHD; my brain sucks at normal reward pathways and music gives me much needed dopamine

I find it weird that people's stereotype of ADHD is liking 30 second TikTok songs; I actually prefer 10 to 20 minute prog songs because they're so dynamic and have so much going on that they stimulate me much more effectively. If I can predict the chord progressions in a song, it bores me, lmao

It just goes well with everything i do. I have music for when i'm skateboarding, i have music for when i paint, and i have music for when i'm working. I have sex to music. I even have music for when i sleep. It helps me get lost in my zone and i just listen to the music. It drowns out all distractions. I don't think about what i'm doing, i just do, while entering a state of zen. pure bliss.

I just always liked it and was always fascinated by different types of music out there. When I was younger, I imagined a crazy world of music that I just didn’t know about. It captures my imagination. If you play an instrument, it only enhances your appreciation for music and adds new depths.
