Mogged by Graves. Cope. Danzig is great but his work with Misfits isn't nearly as good as Graves

Graves put Misfits back on the map nearly single-handedly after the Danzig years came to an end, and the Graves era was far too short considering how fucking good it was. But yes, without Danzig there would have been no Misfits to begin with.

      > Graves put Misfits back on the map nearly single-handedly

Tell me you're too young to have been there without telling me you're too young to have been there.

When the Misfits returned in 95 or 96, everyone was super excited because they hadn't played since like 1984. Everyone wished Danzig was singing but Graves could have been anybody. The Misfits were back after 10+ years. That's all anyone cared about. Nobody was there for Graves.

So let me ask you. If you were so young that you weren't around at that time, why would you say Graves single-handedly put them back on the map? That couldn't be further from the truth. Why would you make up shit?

Punk Shows aren't exactly exclusive events beyond the obscuring the location thing. Lots of random dudes walking in and out.

It's historically known Misfits were a very obscure band before Metallica made them famous, the first time Misfits made any money was with the Graves era, Danzig became a success because of his "solo" band, not Misfits

Really, Misfits owe everything to Metallica, otherwise they'd just be "that band Danzig used to be in"

            >“Our skull was better known than our name, and that was better known than our music,” says bassist/frontman and sole remaining founder member Jerry Only in an accent thicker than tarmac. “But Metallica kept us alive and helped us grow at a time when that should never have happened. Even now, kids run up to me and say, ‘Oh, you got wristbands like Metallica!’ ‘Yeah, right kid…’”

Dude, it's probably the biggest piece of Misfits lore that for the few years they were actually a band, they were never more than an underground cult band. They didn't get big until the late 80s early 90s, which is what prompted Jerry and Doyle to try and make the new version of Misfits with Graves in the first place.

I'd say Danzig and Jerry Only mirror Gene Simmons...both of them, just Gene Simmons. Danzig is the half of Gene Simmons that is a comic book nerd turned rocker who takes his own comic bookish persona oddly seriously, and Jerry is the half of Simmons who loves branding, money, and useless chotskies. If you combined Jerry and Danzig, you'd literally have one whole punk Gene.

Jerry Only has always been the true heart and soul of Misfits
