not to be an asshole, he's an academic, an educator, but he doesn't really work in the field creating or testing any theory or new technology
he just teaches basic concepts and talks about science on podcasts

He's a legit working physicist who has done his share of research and published papers. Writing popsci books on the side doesn't invalidate that.

No, but have you read his published papers?

were they written for a general audience?

I wish i knew any scientist personally. I only talk to retards on the daily basis.

they're more boring than you think. if you want stimulation, make a habit of reading something challenging.

you sound like a brainlet and I'm pretty sure you don't know any real scientists, you are probably going to start talking politics within the next few posts
nuclear fusion is far more interesting and important than anything you're working on right now, you don't really get to say who's interesting or not

                >you sound like a brainlet and I'm pretty sure you don't know any real scientists
I dunno if I'd identify as one myself since I only have a bachelor's degree and am otherwise self-taught, but I have done research at a pretty high level and I'm semi-regularly in touch with academics. they're only interesting to the extent that you're tuned into their specific autismal wavelength.
                >you are probably going to start talking politics within the next few posts
how well does this palm reading shit generally work out for you?
                >nuclear fusion is far more interesting and important than anything you're working on right now, you don't really get to say who's interesting or not
fucking hell this is a retarded post; something being an "interesting" field in general doesn't mean each individual piece of research is itself interesting, or that the people working on it are personally interesting. go pick a recently published astrophysics paper at random and see how thrilling that is. and then go read 100 more and you'll see what scientists do all day long.

Heh. Is the smart part my music taste and the retard part my career, or vice versa? LULZ will tell me one answer and LULZ would give another.

The retard part is we are all retards here, the smart part is suggesting to OP that he would get more of the answers he seeks on LULZ

On a personal note i think your career is cool and i generally listen to the same genres

No shit, I had typed in “I also love a good German March” before I decided against it thinking you fags would rip on me. Erika is beautiful, I don’t understand how anyone wouldn’t be moved by that.

There’s a reason it’s the most memed, anon. I also like the Luftwaffenmusikkorps pieces, but I suppose you’ll have a problem with those too.

Thanks. Been looking at getting back into Astro honestly but I have become very disillusioned with STEM altogether. It’s just a means to an end at this point. Sort of depressing.
