A mobile army of metaphors, metonyms, and anthropomorphisms—in short, a sum of human relations which have been enhanced, transposed, and embellished poetically and rhetorically, and which after long use seem firm, canonical, and obligatory to a people: truths are illusions about which one has forgotten that this is what they are; metaphors which are worn out and without sensuous power; coins which have lost their pictures and now matter only as metal, no longer as coins.
One of my favorite quotes of Nietzsche’s, beautiful even in translation. Even where I disagree with Nietzsche, he’s still a joy to read. I wish there was more serious discussion about him aside from edgy neo-right-wing influencers liking the seeming ties of his thought to far-right ideology, and just as stupid and edgy posters who can’t see anything of value in Nietzsche and dismiss him as “for edgy young adults.”
Truth is the quality or state of being in accordance with fact or reality. It represents an accurate reflection of the way things are or the actual state of affairs.
It’s either Christianity or there is no truth, in which case you can and probably should double down on local religion as a cope. Those are basically the only 2 options.
People proved gravity was equal to newtons equation. And then it was disproved for einsteins better theory of gravity. What that means is you can prove things that aren’t true.
A mother's word
Whatever conforms to my preheld beliefs.
How do you gain and modify beliefs?
whatever brings you peace forever
Contained in reality.
What is ‘reality’?
What the philosophers refer to as 'being'.
What is ‘being?’
The central question of philosophy.
Objective
Truth is that which, when believed, will benefit you.
Or, as Nietzsche put it, truth is will to power.
The duality of Man.
That which continues to operate when you stop believing in it.
objectivity is what the universe knows, subjectivity is what humans know. If objectivity is truth, then truth is what the universe knows.
truth is when a trans black woman speaks
a life not worth living
" It is man's natural sickness to believe that he possesses the Truth" - Blaise Pascal
>I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.-John 14:6
what does salt taste like
Everyone knows what it is but it’s undefinable
I just defined it
Is that true?
yes
So it is possible to define it?
A subjective experience.
Basically correspondence theory of truth, but how a proposition corresponds with reality, that's a tricky question
Circular reasoning

The truth is that whatever decision you make, you make it
Everything. The collective mass of all viewpoints and the connections between them.
Whatever God says it is.
Truth is the quality or state of being in accordance with fact or reality. It represents an accurate reflection of the way things are or the actual state of affairs.
Coherence between facts
The most useful model for navigating reality
A=A
as an entity: measure
as a property: actuality

Truth is something you can prove.
People proved gravity was equal to newtons equation. And then it was disproved for einsteins better theory of gravity. What that means is you can prove things that aren’t true.
It wasn't proven though. That's why it's called a theory.
not something we can really talk about. what we can talk about, however, is what follows from what according to such-and-such rules of deduction
Truth is everything that exists, but there is nothing that does not exist. So we consider truth as it is locally relevant.
