That's referring to New Liberalism. Classical liberalism would have never allowed welfare state nannyism.

Liberalism is the doctrine created by English proto-materialists in the seventeenth century whereby rights are regarded as the chief politic concern instead of duty, which was the Traditional way. It goes without saying that this doctrine, though initially appearing innocuous, has completely led to the satanic takeover of the entire planet.

Liberalism is what allowed more control than every other system. Even communists could only dream about having advanced social-engineering algorithms that Zuck&Co posses.

That's just technology. Authoritarian countries (see China) will take that technology and abuse it a hundred times more than any tech CEO could even imagine. Facebook hoards user data because it's profitable, not because they want to control people.

            >That's just technology. Authoritarian countries (see China) will take that technology and abuse it a hundred times more
Nah, its just a diferent kind of abuse and different type of control. One is old control, the disciplinary society, where you tell what is allowed and what is forbidden; while the other kind, society of control, straight up manipulates your soul into behaving a certain way so there is no reason to forbid things as the algorithms already provided sufficient decrease of thing that would otherwise had to be forbidden.
            >because it's profitable, not because they want to control people.
And why is it profitable? Because they can give that shit to advertisement companies that then use it to control people into buying products.

Yellow was historically the colour of the Liberal Party in the UK, and is still how Lib Dem seats are colour-coded on election coverage on television

Liberalism is small government, low taxes, free trade, weak industry, agrarian focus, anti-regulation, anti-central bank, emphasis on freedoms rather than security, small, weak military focused on militias, etc.
    Essentially a less radical anarchism.

It's when you take The Individual to be the only identity worthy of public acknowledgment and rights. Think of Hobbes and how his individual man "becomes awake" just before his rational decision to institute Leviathan. That awakening is the probable origin of liberalism.

Ethically it will focus on the individual's ability to exit and enter ways of being with minimum restraint as ways of being are interchangeable and arbitrary when viewed through the lens of individualism. Things like religion become questions of taste, inherited forms of identity come under suspicion or are openly attacked. Things like "class" and "nation" are seen as second rate, unreal, or derivative entities; their constituent elements (individuals) being the only really recognizable content to liberals. A formulation like "class interest" is seen as inherently meaningless because classes don't exist, only individuals do

Economically it will focus on the individual's freedom to conduct rational economic activity with the state primarily playing the role of the defender of private property and upholder of contracts. In liberalism, the economy is seen as something that "just happens". Attempts to direct the economy to an "end" are universally seen as irrational or unjust
