Okay retards explain to my why it needs to be Lenovo X220 and you wont accept anything else?
Like wtf?
>it has to be X220, I can't take anything else
>no, X230 is not good
>X240 is terrible (you got it right this time)
>I could settle for T420 but T430 is a no-no (why??)
Also whats the deal with nobody using T410s?
Or X201.
Never forget : LULZ is 90% poorfag NEETs who are stuck with their shitty 10 year old laptops
Yes X220 is about 13 years old
But what I'm asking is why these people are refusing 11 year old laptop, 12 year old laptop and 14 year old laptop and would settle only for one particular old laptop
Because people can't think for themselves and thinkpad general is frequented by the type of person who is still using windows 7 and claims will never upgrade.
If you're still using a 2 core laptop in 2023 you are not being thrifty or smart, you're actually hurting yourself and you don't even realize it.
seems like the population of people who say "LULZ is poorfag neets" is higher than the amount of poorfag neets
just like every LULZ board
I only got into ThinkPad after I got a 90k/year dev job.
Lol, I had a laptop that was 4 years out of date I bought back in 2019. (I am surprised it made it this far.) Anyways, after 4 years or so it finally crapped out because a chip that was on the circuit to the battery cracked in half. No one wants to solder on this board because modern laptops are so compact that you will likely end up damaging more components. So that turns a 50 - 100 dollar problem into a 500 problem to buy a new age shovelware laptop. compare that to a thinkpad which basically has interchangable parts.
Zoomers will never understand why older computers are sought after by people who actually understand technology.
There is literally not a good new laptop for Linux users, might as well just buy a buget x230 and libreboot it
why don't you post this in the thinkpad thread?
its nont the same as thinkpad fanbase
most of those people will take any of the thinkpads
>liking cheap and decent laptops means you're poor
LULZ is worse than reddit at this point
X220 can be librebooted, the x230 cant. Im pretty sure thats the only reason really
is it the only lenovo where this is possible
No, a lot of thinkpads before the x220 is librebootable aswell
No, one of the easiest though.

X230 has new shit keyboard. X220 has old based keyboard. It's the main reason for shitting on x230. In other ways it's better like much faster graphics.
You can easily replace that keyboard with an x220 one and palm rest, get slightly better internals this way.
x220 is cool and runs great with rhel
use it for nursing school
>every key doesn't function
stop shitting your pants over other people's preferences and just use whatever you want...
I need to know the reason
no, you don't. it would do you world of good to realize this simple fact.
I fell for the thinkpad meme like 5 years ago and bought a used x220t and I still use it every single day it's literally the only laptop I ever bought that didn't shit itself after like a year and still works as well as it did when I first got it if it ever dies I'm going to buy another one god I love my x220t
For me, it's le chinkbox
Great routers.
for me it's the x1 carbon
This is the final form of thin laptops.
I hated mine. The track pad is awful. The nipple just isn't accurate enough. But that's fine, I'll use a mou- whoops the chinks put the air exhaust vent right there where your hand holds a mouse so I guess this is getting sent back for a refund.
Best keyboard
For me, it's T14s Gen 3 AMD
Wasn't x220 the last ThinkPad that didn't had IME?
yes it was
So perhaps the story is that some privacy obsessed/GNUtard people that also liked ThinkPads focused on this model and afterward also being joined by some people not understanding the original reasoning.
No the X200 was the last thinkpad on which you could completely encapsulate it (coreboot). The X220 is running Sandy Bridge and has IME, it can only be librebooted.
For me it's the Dell Latitude 7290.
Chinkpads are overpriced now.
is Dell much cheaper
I find that second-hand dells are cheaper, yeah.
Don't know about brand new ones.
nigga I got a 12700h rtx3060 last year for 1K
why do people spend their time on those chink lenovos?
for me it's the latitude 5490
posted on my latitude 5490
You surely mean BlockMarket, Pekka
X230 user here. Spergs who mumble about x220 are often obsessed with 7row keyboard despite that you can actually install it on X230 as well AND have two USB 3.0 ports (unlike on x220). Apart from that you can have all the cool things on both laptops (coreboot, additional SSDs, display mods etc.).
As someone who fell for the ThinkPad meme and bought a T420 and T520, I don't see what the big deal was about these things.
Good:
- Wonderful keyboard
- Good hinge durability
- Easily serviceable and upgradable within reason
- VGA port for all of your nostalgia CRT circlejerk sessions.
- Replaceable batteries
- Docking port
Bad:
- Crappy Intel graphics, or a mediocre quadro graphics.
- Sub-1080p displays
- Nipples, that although weren't bad to use, are far surpassed by a good track pad with gestures.
- Extremely dated 90s aesthetic (maybe this is what appeals to the autists?)
- Shit tier built in camera
- Grippy rubber on the outside that's easily scratched and gets tacky and starts to chemically break down after a decade or so.
- Lackluster processor performance due to sub-optimal cooling
I still use my X220, and there's nothing wrong with those ThinkPads you mentioned.
I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon, what I use a computer for hasn't changed since 2011.
>no numpad
i accept that it's trash and belongs in the garbage
