i don't think she has. i can't find any evidence of it. her employer is "reviewing" the matter.

No, competent people deliberately made search results worse. Because searching for an obscure query to a technical problem isn't something they can sell ads against, and it isn't something they can shill with "sponsored" or "promoted" results. So if you search for something that g**gle has decided they can't effectively exploit you with, they just silently return the closest results that make them money. They don't do stupid things, they do butthole things.

I wonder if at some point Google's hubris will be its downfall, or if normies will be completely unable to change search engines because it's not within their lexicon

        better?

not great either but first search engine to return at least one useful result (#4)

And I can't help but wonder, maybe there aren't any better results for your query? But I suppose that's my mind trying to cope on autopilot.

No idea, but I'm fed up with it. Every fricking day it causes my rage. Either returns unrelated things or just returns three results, even though I typed in a specific query that should get me to the site I found on Google a few hours earlier, but it doesn't. I hope to set up my Searx instance soon, but Bing, Yandex and the like often aren't much better, unfortunately.

There isn't much to operate anymore. You ask Google a question and it gives you an answer package.

Google - the search engine - has been getting worse amd worse for the past decade or so, for real. You're unironicaly going to get much better results from most other search engines.

Youtube search is hilarious, it just kind of gives up after a few results and starts shoveling random videos at you.
