AUDI TURD

every bmw and mercedes
It’s always the same letters too:
>R, Z, X, V sound cool, let’s use those!
At least there’s a hierarchy and logic:
>first letter/number for model
>next digits for the engine displacement
Meanwhile
>Toyota bZ4X
is literally meaningless
>bZ4X
Uhhh uhh..
B tier Zero emission 4 wheel drive Xrossover idk
letter/number for model
>>next digits for the engine displacement
Used to be true, but now the numbers for both BMW and Mercedes don't have anything to do with engine displacement anymore. They're just there to denote its place in the engine hierarchy (aka what tune they flashed onto the ECU of one of 2-3 different base engines).
Audi has taken this even further, just using completely arbitrary numbers like "35", "40" and "50" to indicate ranges of engine power because "2.0 TFSI" could mean anywhere between 170hp and 400hp.
Supra has a good name at least
Blame Cadillac in the early 2000s for that crap. They wanted their cars to have names that would be internationally understood. Of course being GM, that plan backfired and they recently announced they are going back to real names.
>blame cadillac
>german makes been doing numbers and letters only for the entire time cars have been around

Yes i will have one Suzuki Marauder please.
Mercury Marauder sounds cooler

all those still exist tho
I liked Honda's CRV name cause they kept it ambiguous and there's like a dozen acronyms for what people think it means. The worst offender are Infiniti, I swear I thought those were chink cars for the longest time cause they name their cars like the Chinese designate their military gear.
>Infiniti Q21F9
Get that ching chong shit out of here
Worst offender is Mercedes. Their model acronyms are impossible to decipher. Is a CLK better than a C-class? fuck if I know. what's a GLK? Fuck if I know. At least BMWs makes some sense.
Audi also sucks and I have no idea which of their cars are supposed to be good or not.
Audi is very similar to BMW but the number after the A is 1 higher:
A3 = 2-series
A4 = 3-series
A5 = 4-series and so on
Same thing applies to crossovers/SUVs except the number is 2 higher and you swap the X for a Q, only exceptions are the TT and R8 but those are getting killed off anyway
CLK: Coupe-Luxusklasse Kompressor
GLK: Gelande-Licht Kompressor
to answer your question, yes
the CL is not a C-class it's a CL, which just stands for Coupe, Luxury. and the K simply means it's super or turbocharged.
G stands for Gelandewagen which is just what they call their off-roaders and SUVs. the L here signifies it's the "light duty" Gelandewagen which is their midsize SUV. K again indicates forced induction of some kind.
in some cases with older cars the K means "kurz" or short such as the Mercedes Benz SSK.
I think Mercedes designations make the most sense. The acronyms do in fact stand for something and the digits are usually indicative of the displacement or other engine specification.
for me it's Cadillac. Their cars have acronyms for no reason, the cars have the same actual names since 1992 but instead they are concatenated into these dumb ass three-letter badges that seem like the codes used at the factory to tell the cars apart when half assembled.
CTS: Catera Touring Sedan, DTS: Deville Touring Sedan, ETC: Eldorado Touring Coupe, ATS: Alpha Touring Sedan, XTS: X-Series Touring Sedan et cetera et cetera. Nobody knows what the fuck ELR and XLR are supposed to stand for, they probably just picked them to sound like EXceLleRate.

Two can play this game.
>S - Scheisse
>A - Arsch
>R - Retard
>E - eeeeee
The K in CLK does not stand for Kompressor, the CLK 200, CLK 320, CLK 430 and CLK 55 AMG were all naturally aspirated. Only the CLK 200 Kompressor and CLK 230 Kompressor had superchargers (talking about the first gen, C208 here).
remember when Nissan named every one of their vehicles after a Dungeons and Dragons class
