    >Adrenaline
Good debut, nice post-hardcore angularity to it that the other albums lack.

    >Around the Fur
Well-produced but mostly boring songs, like Adrenaline but with the edges smoothed off. Singles are great, though.

    >White Pony
Better than Around the Fur and some insanely good highlights, but it feels like a first step towards something bigger.

    >S/T
First half is one of the strongest sequence of songs in their career, but the back half's a bit doughy. Still, massive sound that builds well on some of WP's better ideas.

    >Saturday Night Wrist
Their best album. Definitely their darkest as well, but the scattershot songs capture their deteriorating mindset better than a lot of people give it credit for.

    >Diamond Eyes
By far their most direct and accessible album, this one just glides on by as pleasantly and harmonically as it can. Bit overproduced, but it's a really feelgood release.

    >Koi No Yokan
Kinda like DE but focusing more on dynamics over harmony. The soft is softer and the hard is harder. "Kaleidoscopic" is the word that comes to mind for this one.

    >Gore
Underrated songs, but in all fairness the production's pretty damn scuffed. Still, I like this one a lot for all its little quirks.

    >Ohms
Opposite of Gore - middling songs, fantastic production. It mostly feels like a tepid attempt to return to the 90s alt metal sound, but Date got a good sound out of them at least.

Honestly, overated juvenile nu metal shit that 25-35 year old psuedo-conservative closted-gay man-babies who wear loudly colored Rick and Morty snapback hats that they bought from Spencer's at the mall in public who drink Mountain Dew with every meal and talk about their custody battle with their ex over their kids while taking a drag off their vapes listen to

Have only listened to Around the Fur and White Pony. Around the Fur is just fine, White Pony is one of my favorite albums ever. Don't know why I never checked the rest of their stuff.

Why do you like Around the Fur? It's so repetitive and boring. Chino sounds like he's continuously getting slow-dicked when he sings clean and relies too much on overdriving his voice when he screams.

This is a mystery to me as well. Like, as far as unga-bunga energy appeal goes the album has good sound and performances so I see a very base appeal there. It's not like there's not a million alt metal records with that sort of "jump the fuck up" appeal and it's not like the concessions to new wave that do exist don't do that appeal any favors. Personally, I think Adrenaline is a worse produced, but better written and performed record of this ilk, while everything after AtF is just more texturally and atmospherically interesting. AtF inhabits this middle ground where I don't entirely know who is supposed to prefer this beyond having listened to it back in 1997 between bursts of The Cure and Depeche Mode.

Sometimes an album is carried by one unbelievably strong track. In this case it is Be Quiet and Drive

Sometimes I wonder why I don’t spend more time with earlier stuff, until I go back and listen and remember “oh yeah, it’s not as good”

        Anonymous

That's the most repetitive one though, riffwise and lyrically
It doesn't go anywhere for nearly its entire duration
I feel like you either click with the mood of the track or you don't and either opinion takes you to the extreme of that feeling

BQAD is definitely a bright spot and I say this as someone who doesn't really like AtF. It's the band's first real shot at the sort of shoegazey approach that would become their trademark and on a record as otherwise dull as AtF, it stands out in all the right ways.

The songwriting got more mature, they got atmospheric, the production, guitar and drum tones are way better and it was on that album where they perfected their unique trait where Chino sounds both like a brooding and a squealing pig while spewing some abstract lyrics. The period that spawned that album was both some of the happiest and angriest moments of his life and that is perfectly reflected on the album.

They're great and I don't think they need some critical analysis from LULZ. They're a band who are good, end of. What is there to say?

Considering their steady metamorphosis from a typical nu/alt metal band to one that adopted elements of shoegaze, new wave and even trip-hop, they're not a particularly dull band to try and dissect.

I just remember watching the clip of "Be Quiet and Drive" between WWF and Cardcaptor Sakura. At first I hated that song, but somehow it makes me much more nostalgic than Korn Slipknot and the other bands I liked back then.

Deftones crush. Been a fan since the late 90’s-early 00’s when they dominated the NuMetal/MTV scene. You couldn’t escape them for a period of time because “Change” was such a huge hit.

helmet is like a prototypical nu metal without the good parts and only the chug riffs
page can play decently but can't sing or write a song for shit

Damn yesterday I heard White Pony and today I got into AtF. WP so far I've most enjoyed, the hits are huge and the closer is great.
Been a big fan of Saturday Night Wrists, but haven't heard any of the new albums. Koi seems to come up on Shoegaze lists but I'd disagree, SNW would fit better.

Question: how fans are yall of Team Sleep? Pinback helped produce, I've dug that most.

Koi has moments, namely Entombed and Roaemary. But I do agree that Wrist is a more consistent representation of shoegaze.
