What do you think about belt pouches?

What do you think about belt pouches?
they are less excessive then straight up fanny packs (though that’s essentially what they are), and with the right get up people might just assume you work in construction or something.

I use one for work, I like it.

I don’t have to empty my pockets and fill the ones in my other pants, I just move the bag over. It’s convenient.

no. the volume is multiple times larger due to depth. you ever have bulging pockets with everything you have? keys, phone, earbud case, snack, wallet, multitool, buttplug.
looks like someone took a dump in your pocket and it’s uncomfortable to boot. especially if doing something active.

I live in a big city so it’s not uncommon to see guys wear "crossbody bags". I really don’t know the difference between a belt bag or a fanny pack, I’m pretty sure they just take a belt bag and wear it across their body.

Yeah, most common I’ve seen is a fanny pack worn cross-body. Also not uncommon to see guys just wearing small backpacks, or a drawstring bag (through that one only really goes with sporty fits).
/fashion/’s irrational hatred of fanny packs is one of many examples of this board being out of touch.

seems like poor idea. Why not just wear fanny pack?
If you put anything of weight into it (like multitool) you’ll end up needing to either fasten your belt tighter than usual to make up for added weight or replace it with stiffer more robust on- either way you are sacrificing your comfort.
fanny packs are ok, wearing them like sling across your chest is not.

Fanny packs are awkwardly placed. Have you tried to sort through a pack behind you? And don’t even suggest placing it up front.

no you don’t. trim the fat.

I keep tools I use on a regular basis at work in it. Most are used on a daily basis.

it’s not sewn to your skin, you should be able to slide it around easily. move it front, do whatever you need with it, back to back where it doesn’t get in the way.

I used to like the autistic concept of "EDC" until I saw all the redditors that carry multiple knives and a flashlight everyday

maybe gum or any other miscellaneous one thing.

thats a lot if you arent wearing a jacket. its jacket able if you are, but its not always tenable in the summer.

Civilian style chest rig would be perfect but probably 20-30 years away, if it happens at all.

No, I don’t consider cross-body to be the same thing.

Bought one of these and it arrived yesterday. Useful af because I carry my pocket gun in one pocket and my cell in the other. The sidecar holds my wallet, eyeglasses, surface duo and reload.

      thats a nice one.

Just thinking ergonomics wise it would be nice if they had a belt strap and a clip.

just use the clip if you want east on-off access and use the belt loop if you want it bolted down to your person firmly.

That’s what I was thinking. I just put two small caribiners on the little loops that on each side. Can clip onto my basketball shorts and also sits lower which is more comfortable to me and a lot easier to take on and off.

I might design a clip that interfaces with the existing loops on the pouch though for fun and print it out. Also took it out today ruining errands and it was helpful since I had to renew my passport. I was easily able to fit my check book, and old passport in there along with the normal stuff I normally bring.

I think they are cool, but I don’t do many things that would make it useful. I go innawoods only once a year, and in the garden I have most things closeby anyways.
