Emphasis on the kinda. It was a disaster for the Greeks of Asia Minor. And the Greek mercantile class that monopolised trade in the Ottoman Empire along with Armenian and israeli merchants were ruined. If the Ottoman Empire survives with its 1900 borders the global elite would be dominated by Greeks, Armenians and Sephardic israelites.
>be ataturk >have to fight the french, armenians, and greeks >make a deal with soviets >they give you guns and invade armenia with you >use your new guns and the ottoman army to push back the french >they leave because of trouble in syria and switch their focus to help whites and poles >suddenly the anglos who pushed greece to declare war on you decide to switch side >they consider you a bulwark against communism now >wtf lol >get even more guns >the greek overstrecht themselves >win the war
Well that was easy.
>another thread where Continentals screech that we HAVE to get involved in their little disputes.
Let’s not pretend the Greeks weren’t rubbing their hands together when they joined the Great War 3 years late to do some land-grabbing of their own. I bet none of you know Greece had a defensive pact with Serbia they reneged on at the start of the war.
Doesn’t matter. They had their gay little "schism" and spent 3 years hemming and hawing to see who would win, and longer before that if you go back to Balkan Wars.
If they had actually honoured their word and come to Serbia’s defence, it would have been a totally different outcome. There would have been no Gallipoli campaign since there would be an overland route to Instanbul the M.E.F could have used instead of the amphibious landings, and they could have had their Greater Greece to dodge more taxes in. Pic related is the current state of Greece and entirely of their own making.
Greece didn't have a land border with Turkey, Western Thrace was controlled by Bulgaria which was neutral at the time. Bulgaria attacked Serbia a few months after Gallipoli.

There would have been a Gallipoli campaign, but if the Greeks had provided the (I think) 150000 men they initially promised it would have been alot different.
>Bulgaria acted quickly after its declaration of war, invading the Serbian province of Macedonia and in the process driving a wedge in front of Allied forces in Greece in their attempts to aid the Serbian army. In the summer of 1916, Bulgaria invaded and occupied a section of then-neutral Greece, mounting a major offensive in August that was only halted by BRITISH aerial and naval attacks. >only halted by BRITISH aerial and naval attacks. >Still wait a year to join the war after being openly attacked by the Central Powers
Fricking useless wops. Rinse and repeat 25 years later having to save them for the 5th time, and then again another 25 years later, and again, and again, and again...
Imagine having the gall to complain about "Perfidious Albion" after stabbing in the chest your allies, and expecting some more tens of of thousands to die for no reason other than you being able to larp as BYZANTIVM (VGH!)
Gayreeks always ready to rub hands together whenever Turks are in conflict. No other way they can take them head on.
Their window of opportunity is long gone.
