take it up the pooper while complaining about patriarchy
you can use it as tinder to start a bumfire to warm up during winter while you're living on the street because you chose to get a stupid degree.

About as much as you can do with any other liberal arts degree (not much). I don’t know if they even exist, but if they do, I guess the stigma could hurt you a little.

Actually amazing how well this bit of propoganda worked.
You see, to stop the right from trusting people with advanced literacy skills and an ability to think critically, learn, and do proper research, they put it in your heads gender studies is some rampantly common area of study and not some dumb shit taken by a few blue hairs.
So when you believe whatever bullshit they tell you, and someone qho can read past the headline says "did you even read the article?" Or "citation?" You retreat ro "lmao lmao ywnbaw"
The idea you can't possibly succeed with a "meme degree" is also an idiotic contagion. Like everyone in the whole job market needs to be a scientist. Weird right wing shit.
What Your Guidance Counsellor Didn't Tell You: Your college major means almost nothing on the job market. THAT you graduate tells employers you have some discipline and ambition; WHAT you studied hardly matters. Only about 25% of grads wind up working in the field of their majors.
Think skills, not book-learning. While studying your subject, you picked up relevant study and thinking skills that can be transferred sideways into the business world. If you are attuned to how people relate to each other and how gender affects that, you are a good candidate for jobs in management, training, HR, marketing and PR.
But it goes further than that. If you can analyze a text for gender bias, you can analyze sales figures. If you can research gender-related legal cases, you can research anything. If you can write a term paper, you can write anything.
Think about your skills, pick a business that sound sinteresting, and sell yourself (in your letter and resume) as having the skills they want. Learning the specifics of a business is the easy part.
this is surprisingly true, I know of not one but TWO astrophysics majors who work in a software development field entirely unrelated to astronomy or physics
That is not surprising. Most people think about software when they don’t know what to do, and a hard science degree won’t get you a job. But they will be able to pick up software development at a decent level pretty easily.
Only if you're black.
I'm a straight, blue-eyed White male of European descent and I applied for one such position. You will not believe how fast the rejection email came.
Not close, I got rejected before then. But in job market time, the rejection came practically instantly, within 30 minutes. Like they had a parser on all incoming emails to find out if your White, male or both.
With a gender studies degree you can take part in degrading our society, which millions worked tirelessly to build. We should gather up these people in a big pit, and set fire to it.
teach gender studies. thats about it
