Brothers/el Camino came out during that period when super over produced hip hop was dominating the charts like Kanye and drake and then people like Tyler the creator were coming onto the scene with a more underground/indie style of hip hop that everyone wanted to copy so the era of rap dominance was beginning, black keys were a breath of fresh air for a former rockist like me. On re-listen they never really did anything particularly well and their music post attack and release was much less rock than I remember and much more pop, but damn if these guys don’t represent some good high school memories for me
