Alan Wake is one of my favorite games of all time and the characters all being white in a Washington-state like setting with moody, white overtones in a Twin Peaks type town that literally transforms as the game plays was just amazing script writing and direction. Putting a black protagonist into that now could be great but if it's BAD it will be REALLY bad. I don't want Alan Wake to become an Uncharted buddy-guy type game when it never was that to begin with. As I said, American Nightmare was objectively mid and you could see then the shitty and uninspired direction the franchise was unfortunately going in. Imagine if Alan Wake just never ended and you got involved with other characters throughout that world as they battled the darkness of the lady in the lake. I frankly don't see how many the character black could make the game any more compelling than it already was. If they can make the music and combat mesh well with whatever new story they're going with, I will play the game. I just wanted to go back to Alan and Barry and the town. I wanted American Nightmare to never have happened. Why do they have to fumble on guaranteed winning shit? The first game sold AMAZINGLY WELL and has a cult following. I literally played it and I live somewhere where the average temperature is 35-40 Celsius for 9 months of the year minimum. Imagine how kino this shit was for me. Now I have to be a black woman. With the shift to online platforms like Steam, it's only a matter of time before gaming companies withdraw their licences to original old games on CDs. They might even work with Microsoft, Apple, and other OS licence holders along with console makers to ensure that old games get bricked unless they're played on machines that are airgapped and offline.
IIRC most EULAs explicitly allow the software company to end the licence at any time and potentially sue you for using the software if you do so after they've done this.
