heh, that’s the same number font on the shifter as my GTO > three overdrive gears
seems like you’d only ever use 7th at highway cruising speeds which won’t really help your acceleration much if at all, especially since 1-6 are identical ratio wise to the corvette’s T56 and i rarely ever go above 4th gear on city roads. certainly fuel economy motivated more than anything
>starting gear to get you moving >gear for cruising at low speed 35mph >gear for cruising at higher speeds 55mph >gear for cruising at high way speeds 70-80mph
4 is all you need
What about cruising at 100-120 mph with good fuel economy? Surely even in 4th gear the engine would be screaming and you wouldn't be getting good mileage.
>cruising at 100-120 >good fuel economy
no combination of gears and tuning would ever yield good fuel economy at those speeds in a conventional car. air resistance goes up at square rate in relation to speed.
Honestly we need to mandate commuter cars are 3 on the tree
1st gear - parking lot speeds
2nd gear - city speeds 25-45
3rd gear - highway 55-65
Normies can't be trusted with more
Corvette gets great milage on the highway but Imo 7 gears is too many and it’s annoying becuase there is no torque whatsoever and 6 gear is a very differnt ratio so it’s always a massive blip and hard to have a smooth shift for passing like going from 5th to 4th.
What about a CVT with a range lever and you can slide back and forth and pick the ratio you want. You manual fags want control, here's the ultimate control of your gear ratio.
I still don't understand why they got rid of dog leg shifters. Having 2-3 across from each other makes way more sense for average low speed driving. 1st should be across from reverse because the only time either are used is from a stop.
Then because of them, you wouldn't accidentally shift into reverse driving
Also, Corvette C7 has the reverse opposite to the 7th, to the right of 6th, so I don't know how you would accidentally put it in reverse when trying to shift to 5th
911 has it to the left of 1st
Aston Vantage has a dog leg, so opposite to 1st

Stop lights suck i agree
Lic is the only result of short gears and extra shifts
that image is so outdated, nowadays every soccer mom is driving a suv that can do sub 10, every lower trim can do it in like 10-12s
The new middle hell is like 10-11s
Don't make shit up
lol ur high again bro

herbed botpost
absolutely pointless without a turbo, otherwise you only need 4.
>4 speed in 2022
The way I see retards drive on the freeway they should all be gimped with 4 spds
I love the 4 speed in my car. 2nd tops out at 81mph.
you dont really need that many gears.

That’s dangerous you should slow down the fastest road in my state is only 65 mph anyways

guess you live in a shithole.
Yes I live in a country with n-words

The thing that gets me with 7 speed manual is where does the stick actually center itself? Still on 3-4 or somewhere in the middle of 3-4 and 5-6?
Still between 3-4 I'd assume if it's on the same row as R.
But then wouldn't it be really easy to miss 5th?
add a speed lockout into 7th or make a small detent that you have to go past to reach it, so 4th-5th is still basically the same movement
Still the same position, i guess if it had an 8th gear it would be between 5-6?
It's workable with but not as fun as a manual
Corvette gets great milage on the highway but Imo 7 gears is too many and it’s annoying becuase there is no torque whatsoever and 6 gear is a very differnt ratio so it’s always a massive blip and hard to have a smooth shift for passing like going from 5th to 4th.
6 speed is best
For me it's the 5 speed. I need no more no less.
What about a CVT with a range lever and you can slide back and forth and pick the ratio you want. You manual fags want control, here's the ultimate control of your gear ratio.
all cvts are unreliable
that would be absolutely pointless. You're basically just controlling the size final drive.
Are 2/3 gears over driven?if not based.
but OP that is 8 speeds

Even more based than the 6th gear on the Autobahn.
A 7 speed is fucking chaotic good.
>accidentally go into reverse when slowing for an off ramp looking for 5th
>blow the transmission
6 gears is the max practical layout with an offset reverse gear you can only enter by lifting a mechanism on the shifter like in a truck.
>being a retard
Also
>reverse lockouts don't exist
Yes, reverse lockouts do exist. I just explained how they work.
Then because of them, you wouldn't accidentally shift into reverse driving
Also, Corvette C7 has the reverse opposite to the 7th, to the right of 6th, so I don't know how you would accidentally put it in reverse when trying to shift to 5th

I've had 3 cars with a lifting mechanism
Were they 6 speeds? I find usually 6 speeds have it whereas 5 speeds dont.
actually yes. I've never made that connection before lol. I guess it has to do with internal arrangement and packaging constraints?
