It allowed evil to spread. Not long after being invented, pilots dropped bricks onto people, the first bombs. Then they were used to provoke war and paranoia by spying and to further extend corrupt governments' iron fists.
Airplanes are a curse.
And what if they hadn't invented it, or worse yet not developed it? Sometime later someone else will invent it and drop bricks on your head. All progress has the capability to be evil, but refusing to participate in the race can be foolish too
You're legit moronic if you think we were not flying about hundreds of years before winged planes. Some gasses are lighter than air, like helium. We had floating towns, hotels that would take you across the atlantic in 2 days using less fuel than you'd need to drive one village over. "Bell towers" on all those old building were for these air crafts to dock like ships. Old photographs will have the sky entirely doctored white, no clouds, no sun... more importantly no zephlins. We had free energy about 200 years ago. Frick all this shit. Use your ancestral memory.
fossils lost in luftwaffe raids:
-ancestral arapaima fish
-spinosaurus egypticus
-2/4 dinosaur mummys (not fossils) ever found
-???? (operation highjump)
Developing mastery of one's surroundings and abilities.
A life lesson is here, too. Even if you feel under qualified, apply yourself, learn what you can, explore, and you can make amazing things happen.

You can say that about every invention.

At least evil would have been stifled for a time.

Like the 4-minute mile, it showed that if you believe something is possible, it is.
