Is it just not true after all? Where did you find this out? It will be nice to finally get to the bottom of this gnostic stuff ya know?

Not the guy you were replying to but it’s just spiritual escapism. In my experience it just isn’t real. The “monad”/good god/whatever the frick is the epitome of the problem presented by the Epicurean Paradox.

            Anonymous

The Monad resolves the paradox by taking the "why call him God" angle. You shouldn't really think of the Monad as God. It's not listening to prayers and deciding whether or not to grant them, it is the one doing the praying (because you are it.)

There are plenty of lowercase-g gods, and The Monad is the closest thing to a capital-G God there is, but even then it doesn't actually work the way we think it should when we say "God," in the same way a process for producing motorcycles (including all the raw material in the ground and all the finished motorcycles on the street) is not itself a motorcycle, much less a Motorcycle. Capital-M Motorcycles don't really exist, only very high quality motorcycles.

Then why be a gnostic? Why not just be a platonist/neoplatonist?

            Anonymous

I think that decision is much less meaningful than it seems. Out of gnostic, Buddhist, Hermetic, Platonic thought etc., thought, pick whichever one makes intuitive sense to you and progress. It all eventually comes back to the same place.

Gnosticism is debunked in seconds with just a handful of verses of the canon Bible, in any version. It states very clearly that Lucifer became the lord of this physical world when he fell. Lucifer is not God, despite what any number of branches of the Mystery Babylon faith will tell you. Lucifer presents a false Light/Dark axis but ultimately you still end up trapped in ego and third density. Jesus really is the true way, and God the father is not evil.

You don't even know what "gnosticism" is.

Indeed. I don't know what "gnosticism" is. I do know what Gnosticism is however, and it is a deception, plain and simple. 1 John 1:5 states that God is Light and has no Darkness in him. He does not need it to have Light. All created beings have a light and a dark side, however (it comes part and parcel with existing on this plane of reality)

The Orthodox, who compiled the NT Bible using material that they believe in, are the avowed enemies of the Gnostics, so why should the Gnostics believe anything that the Orthodox compiled as Gospel??

I personally like Proverbs and Psalms in the New Testament. Fruits of the Spirit are a main core/go back to.

    Genesis and revelations

I second "Revelation", it is a masterclass on symbology

also "John" is a masterclass on theology, full of esoteric content BUT ONLY IN ITS ORIGINAL GREEK! problem is many things get lost in translation
the very first phrase is one of the most interesting things I have read from any religious text but in the translation it lost all the original meaning

Ἐν ἀρχῇ ēn ἦν ho ὁ Λόγος, καὶ Θεὸς ἦν ὁ Λόγος
En archē ēn ho Logos... kai Theos ēn ho Logos.
in principle is the Logos, and God is the Logos
      https://biblehub.com/interlinear/john/1.htm
give it a go, you'll learn some greek in the process...

Logos does not mean just "the word" curiosly enough the text itself gives a warning to people making that mistake:
      >1 Corinthians 4:20 "For the Kingdom of God is not in the word but in power."

Probably the books that the priests threw out from the bible like the book of Enoch and the book of Adam and eve etc

For OT, anything attributed to Solomon. Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and especially the Song of Songs (once you know what it is you are looking at). Genesis too, though that's more for looking at small details that do not line up with traditional interpretation that give you clues about what is really going on.

For the NT, John and Revelation are the most important. There are some important details in the actual Pauline letters, but that's more for wanting to get into gnostic ideas from a traditional Christian background.

    >logos

    >monad

The Logos is the comprehensible expression of the incomprehensible inexpressible Bythos, born from the Bythos' self-reflective thought (Barbello). Son, Father, Mother, all existing as both distinct and within each other.

The way I personally envison it is that the Monad is like this gigantic elastic sheet: stretched in infinite directions and looping around itself infinite ways, but utterly simple in substance and not divisible (or else the entire sheet contracts). In this gigantic elastic sheet/web exist vibrations, and each distinct identity "within the Monad" is comparable to a particular wave of a particular frquency travelling along the sheet. It's all just one thing engaging in one overall motion, but the complexities of that motion mean that you have to analyze them as individual movements even though that's an artificially imposed limitation.

I have Acts 17 bookmarked, where Paul preaches in Athens. What he says about God everyone needs to hear. I think most Christians are still stuck in the bearded sky dad mentality.

Acts is great, I love when that fortune telling woman is following Paul and his companion around, and Paul straight up tells the spirit in that woman to leave, and it leaves her body, then has to go to court because her owners are mad that they can't make money off of her anymore. The fact that such things could even be taken to court back then is phenomenal. In todays world, it would've played out much differently.

It took great courage to speak to a mob who was ready to kill you, and still tell them that they're worshipping an idol and to seek the one true God.

    esoteric == occult.
initially i thought that esoteric goes with the "official" webster definition. it does not.
i have never encountered any priest or saint call their teachings esoteric in my christian faith. i guess that goes for a reason...
