anime turns every single genre it touches worse. the only decent music to come out of anything even vaguely anime adjacent is those Toho Bossa Nova albums
This,only real exceptions are BGM and Power Metal which while always more than slightly dorky basically stayed about the same in quality. Dragonlance is what really caused Euroshit Black Metal to become Cringe and Japanese Power Metal seems relatively better even. Not better BECAUSE of anime as much as that it still follows 80s Hard Rock Tropes though.

I tried listening to sewerslvt while running the other day and it was so low energy and boring compared to OG shit off of metalheadz or blueprint. Not sure how you’re supposed to dance to high energy breakbeats if there’s five minutes of interludes and whoosing noises bookending each song
