i still don’t get it why everyone gets these multicolored ones, it has always been reserved for women
      looks gay af

Technically it’s tortoiseshell acetate since actual tortoiseshell has been banned for fifty years due to animal rights concerns.

          • Anonymous says:

I do believe one company still produces them using old stock tortoise shell from the pre ban era. Maison Bonnet. Unfortunately you have to travel to France to get a pair and I cannot imagine the cost.

where can I find tortoisehell without the distracting metallic marks on the edge of the frame? such as

Mine are Giorgio Armani. The frames worn in the movie are Oliver Peoples. Not certain if they still make that frame, I haven’t looked into their catalog.

      What are most /fa glasses?

Sir O’Malleys are a different shape and the horizontal rivets aren’t kino. The original is the only goof one. You pretend to be bateman but can’t even get the frame right.

      • Anonymous says:

Didn’t know what the Oliver Peoples frames were called, pretty neat. Also wasn’t going for the Bateman look, I just like tortoiseshell. Looking online however it seems I could’ve gotten a pair of Sir O Malleys for less than I paid for my frames. Next pair I’m getting is the Matsuda 2808H

Make sure you get glass lenses. CR-39, poly, and trivex all will look like shit after a year even if you buy 1000 microfiber clothes and only wipe with solution. Also many OPs are fake. I suggest buying from them directly or sticking to much older frames (you can tell be frame size, some sellers still have old new stock and you can also use FSA bux to buy a complete pair from a local retailer).

          • Anonymous says:

Next pair of glasses I’m definitely getting glass lenses, if I had been given the option when I purchased these frames I would’ve gotten it then.

          • Anonymous says:

Most opticians don’t mention it as an option because they’ll last a decade + and know that you wouldn’t need to come back for a long time. You need to ask for it explicitly. The only time opticians and labs refuse is when the frames are rimless or semi rimless because drilling into glass isn’t good.

          • Anonymous says:

            No I corrected myself

As an option. It isn’t by default.

It’s like +$300 for oliver peoples glass lenses.

I have clear frames with oval lenses, they don’t affect shape much but I like the effect.

I have a theory: glasses look best when they blend into the face and look like a natural extension from the hair. Meaning they do not shine, since no part of the body is ever shine, thus shiny metal is banned. As for the colour, it should match the hair colour, black for dark hair, brown for lighter hair.
I don’t really think shape ever mattered, it is more of a stylish choice. Meaning, the shape looks good when it matches the style of the rest of the outfit. Rectangles are better on sloppier outfits such as which match tshirt+jeans outfit of the school shooters that wear them, rounded ones look better on better put together outfits such as

          https://i.imgur.com/8uh4USp.png

Picrel looks good not because the glasses match the person’s headshape, but because they match the rest of their outfit. The simple and understated shape and thickness of the glasses, go together with the simple and understated outfit and personality of the particular character that Bautista plays in Blade Runner 2049

          • Anonymous says:

            >As for the colour, it should match the hair colour, black for dark hair, brown for lighter hair.

disagree. black frames always look weird on pale and white skins, doesn’t matter the hair

          • Anonymous says:

            these are all different, though
notice how on the top row, the frames are above the "ear sticks", while on the bottom row, the frames are thick as heck
I specifically chose a pair that sois and feminists don’t wear, mine are like sunglasses without a tint

          • Anonymous says:

these look terrible even without a face to be on

why can’t you guys get anything other than chud glasses, its not that hecking hard and you don’t look like a hecking loser.

What would you suggest? I can’t see shit without glasses, btw, if that matters
Maybe something around 150 usd, max, but I’d rather like the price to be as low as possible, preferably around 75 bucks, since I’m a PC enthusiast and prefer upgrading the rig or buying gunpla

          • Anonymous says:

You’re not going to get anything good for $75, save up a bit, it’ll be worth it. Glasses are the first thing people see when they see you. Whether you know it or not, people are judging you for having those chud glasses. If I see those chud glasses on someone on if signals to me that the individual has zero taste in anything related to the arts and I write them off.

Start here for inspo (then then try to see if you can find similar styles on discount sites)

            https://www.garrettleight.com/
            https://moscot.com/collections/optical

Make sure to try before you buy. It’s critical that you buy something that fits your face. This is one of the most important parts, so don’t judge glasses independently on their own, judge them on your face most of all.

The most /fashion/ glasses are anything independently produced. Stop buying mcdonalds happy meal toy quality glasses from hebrewcorp luxottica. Buy from brands like lunor, matsuda, dita, and morgenthal frederics.

  3. Anonymous says:

my hecking eyelashes aren’t that long, but I can’t even close my eyes without them hitting the lenses, so I have to put the glasses lower on my nose, which decreases field of vision significantly

i just ordered these, the original creators of the browline glasses.
I’m surprsied nobody knows about the shuron company, they’ve made a ton of glasses that actors wear in popular movies but the only people who seem to know about the company from my google searches are japanese people for some reason.

These look nice, probably a good buy.

Damn I like these and they are pretty cheap. I dont know shit about glasses but they don’t have the same exact size that my current glasses are so im wondering if they will work.

      • Anonymous says:

        >they don’t have the same exact size that my current glasses are so im wondering if they will work.
When you order them from customer service they send you 3 different frame sizes first and then you pick the one that fits best and they send you the finished glasses in that size. It’s actually insane that the company isn’t well known considering they do this level of service for so cheap, they literally send sample sizes and whatever custom colors and specifications you want

        • Anonymous says:

really? In the USA I thought their website said they dont sell direct and to contact retailers. Ill look again.

          • Anonymous says:

you can just order by calling customer service, i dont know why they dont have an online store for the more basic order requests though

i tried these on in a local shop and i’d say they were rather small in a good sense, although i’m not sure if it’s the exact same model, they were also from tommy hilfiger
liked them but not 100% sure if that style looks good on me so i didn’t pull the trigger there and then

    • Anonymous says:

Except you’re a pseud and it isn’t sigma and also know nothing about Eyewear. The real version of these glasses are usually sold in smaller sizes. Moscot redditor is just a cheap brand that copies off more expensive ones then bastardizes them by making them oversized and with cheaper material. Shit movie too, not kino.

I want some Aviators (for driving mostly) but it’s a sea of really cheap shit and then absurdly expensive. I’m trying to find a nice middle ground. I thought I liked these Carrera’s for the price (~$70 on amazon) but the more I look at them the more unsure I am about them. The side shield might be a little much. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/cuuq42gUMWA

    >he wears glasses 24/7
    >he wears goylenses
    >he doesn’t see with his natural eyes
Real men don’t wear glasses 24/7 or goylenses AKA contact lenses for that matter. The only acceptable occasion to wear glasses is when you do tasks or work, otherwise view the world as the blurry mess as it is, like people did back in the old days.

    • Anonymous says:

      >view the world as the blurry mess as it is, like people did back in the old days.
this is an interesting perspective. there is a buddhist or daoist angle to this, taking things as they are. legally i am not allowed to drive without glasses but when i am on foot i like to view things naturally

      • Anonymous says:

This, just leave a pair in the car for driving and a pair at home for a spare. I don’t even notice the blur 99% of the time. Crisp visual detail at a distance is not what makes the world beautiful, its overall impression from all five senses together.

    • Anonymous says:

My friends always ask me why I take off my seeing glasses all the time and my answer is that there is nothing I need to see that close. Only wear them when driving or watching TV usually

If you must get plastic CR-39 is optically the best. If you need thinner, trivex is the best compromise. If your RX is so bad that isn’t enough, you get zeiss 1.9 index glass from Europe for thinness.

  16. Anonymous says:

I don’t know how to find good fitting glasses. I’ve seen every guide online, they’re all made by people who don’t know what they’re talking about, and all the advices keep contradicting each other.

To make it worse, there doesn’t seem to be a standard for glasses frame measurements. The numbers on the frames aren’t that helpful.

Boomer/Dwight aviators. Got mine last year on kind of a hunch and was kinda nervous but I’ve never gotten so many complements from women on a piece of clothing in my life, and in the last month or two I’ve started seeing other dudes with them.
