a hebrew creation (capitalism) feeds off lies? imagine my shock

It’s a scam and most companies do it inefficiently (meaning that the process is more harmful than just producing a completely new garment).

How efficient is plastic recycling? I feel like it’s 99% scam.

The reason its a scam is because its a net negative financially and the government doesn’t subsidize it. A functioning government instead of sending 100 billion to our greatest ally could spend 1% of it to subsidize recycling to make it profitable for businesses to do, or just do it in house as a federal entity. But noooo my tax dollars have to go to Black folk and hebrews.

If it relies on a subsidy to be profitable, it isn’t profitable. Just process them properly in the dump to avoid microplastics.

Profitable for companies to actually want to do it. Right now as it is our technology doesn’t allow recycling to make money for private individuals. So the only way to actually get anything recycled is for the government to ensure it gets done. That with some regulations on what can actually be produced (banning PFAS for example) and we could easily fix the problem

its not a scam like anons are knee jerk replying but i’m not surprised they feel that way.
      tl;dr:
polyester can be recycled but the fiber isn’t as high quality each time its recycled so it can’t be recycled infinitely nor can recycled polyester be used for the same things as unrecycled polyester nor is it as nice.
companies are experimenting with textile to textile polyester recycling, basically recycling the entire textile instead of just the fiber, that would eliminate this issue.
the recycling process isn’t pollution free either it creates heck loads of microfiber dust.
very little polyester actually winds up getting recycled most of it winds up in the ocean or a landfill.
the last 3-4 years depending on the given year between 30-40% of packages entering the united states are from shien and temu.
eventually it will become an island in the ocean or something.

i have an icebreaker wool grid fleece.
its infinitely nicer than the cheap polyester bullshit for casual fashion use.
not as good as my $14 polyester one from costco for actual mountain climbing shit.

    >polyester fleece bad
its way way way way way better than wool fleece as actual hiking gear.
    so its good.
    just not for fashion.
    >polluting the planet with all that plastic
fleece especially high pile like your pic is probably the worst kind of garment we make for the environment other than fake fur.
not only do all the typical "its made of microplastic fibers and will wind up in the ocean eventually" but it actively sheds them off everywhere you go while you’re wearing it and its also an incredibly popular insulation layer for hikers and outdoors people who spend a lot of time near unpolluted sources of water. yay!
    >the marketing geniuses at Patagonia
polartec started it i’m actually surprised patagonia sells them with how much they push the eco conscious thing.
    >Were you aware that fleece is supposed to be
you can buy wool fleece still. i know for a fact icebreaker makes it because i was wearing a wool grid fleece from them yesterday.

polyester fleece is warmer per gram that the sweater weighs, but not as warm as down.
polyester fleece is significantly more rugged than wool fleece.
polyester fleece dries out in 1/10th the time of wool fleece.
woven or piled wool doesn’t really have the weather resistant properties thicker or felted wools have.

Meanwhile I have tried on that wool fleece jacket… heck, I really like it the way it fits a bit like a crop top but really comfy. But waaay overpriced beyond my budget . Also, I already own the polartec ecwcs plastic fleece jacket. Oh btw, the zara one
, it’s really hecking nice except for a cheap shiny flimsy little zipper.
