            ATTN ZOOMERS:

            Fun fact!

Starting your career during a recession has a measurably negative impact ON your long term health. Cancers, heart disease, etc, are all noticable higher in this who entered the work force during economic downturns.

mental health also takes a dip! Depression, loneliness, relationship dysfunction... all of them suffer long term because you had to settle for that shitty job at 22 instead of walking into Google as a Associate Product Manager of People Relations.

Oh yeah, and don't even talk about the long term financial implications.

            Enjoy!

Nope, though I can see why you might think so. No, Bitcoin is as vulnerable as any other asset someone might be using to play collateral games with. First one to cash ruins it for everyone else. That's as true of SVB as it soon shall be of Bitcoin, and crypto on the whole.

If it crashes and goes bankrupt (*extremely* unlikely), your money is UNTOUCHABLE from the moment they file bankruptcy. THIS is what's happening to the average SVB depositor TODAY. They can't get access to their 'insured' deposits until the bankruptcy judge says so, and that could (and will) take years. The money may be there, but you can't debit it to pay bills!

I am imagining getting a CD to a bank that goes under and my CD goes with it. I can look at bonds but I have no idea how to understand the information Vanguard gives me when it lists the selections. I've got two days to figure it out. There might be a tax benefit that makes bonds a better option over CD's, with less risk? Aren't they tax exempt?

I am an aerospace engineer and I make a good salary, keep my expenses low, and it just saves up. I never really sat down to actually study and understand investing - and when I say that I mean getting good at understanding all the datafields displayed when looking at stonks and stuff. I get the overall concept but beyond something like expense ratio or support lines, I have no idea what half this shit means. It's the same with sports too. I see all these different metrics, I can read the definition, it isn't immediately clear what pattern = a strong team. Thus I never played fantasy football. My life has been pretty simple up to this point. I get money, I pay mortgage, no debt, track my expenses. Time for me to graduate to another level so this month I opened a Vanguard account and I am but a little boy in a mans world.

        >Horses seem friendly, but also the stagecoach implies 'we've been around a while'

Then if you had gone into their old SF downtown branches it was like being inside of an old world palace so you felt like "Oh yeah, thats why I pay the fees, cause this is like some weird San Francisco catholic church or some shit."

I’m sorry, but I could not find any information on how much money Wells Fargo has deposited with Silicon Valley Bank. Neither bank has disclosed that information in their annual reports1234, and I could not find any reliable sources that reported it.

However, I did find out that Silicon Valley Bank had a very high percentage of uninsured deposits, meaning that they exceeded the $250,000 limit covered by the FDIC56. This could mean that Wells Fargo and other large customers may have lost some of their money when Silicon Valley Bank failed

              Run.

Guess I'll find out Monday if I still have a job. The company I work has millions in Wells Fargo. I just deposited a 35k payroll check on Saturday last week at my bank (Chase). They put a 15 day hold on it with zero funds available. It's the same account I have drawn my payroll from for 5 years (literally the only checks I deposit), and I deposit checks this size or larger on a regular enough basis. The last check was for far more, and it cleared in a day with all funds available (just like the 10+ previous deposits). I spoke with the branch manager about the hold and there was no reason in their system for it. Thank God it cleared fully on Wednesday.

I got my rent check from my management company direct deposited to wells fargo yesterday. So either us landchads are getting priority treatment (likely) or it's an issue with corporations fucking up their payroll (possible).

          >corporations fucking up their payroll
          this
my old boss used WF and we always had about 1-2 business day lag because she (kek) wouldn't process the payroll until Wednesday or Thursday when we had our time sheets in by Friday the previous week.
Current job, time sheet is in on Friday, they process Monday and I'm paid on Wednesday not Friday when the ACH clears.

All bank accounts are insured up to 250k by the federal government, you'll be fine, the government will pay you out what you had in your account. The only question is how long until they reimburse you.

But capitalism always leads to these sorts of outcomes
It always starts off as a free market then one guy starts acquiring the market share of other parts of the economy becomes capitalism rewards those who have and before long we have the system we have now

Hilarious. Sadly Joe Taxpayer, aka (You), will have to bail them, again. This time though every western nation has no money so idk.
Anyone observed within themselves a idgaf attitude? Why should I go into work every day, to be underpaid, with diversity hires and managers, when it's all just a disaster movie waiting to happen? I can barely even save money these days, which was originally why people got out of bed. I hope everyone at Wells and SVB loses everything and dies.
