We were never hunter-gatherers

>we wuz cavemen
>we discovered fire
>invented le agriculture
I'm tired of these false cultural memes plaguing agricultural societies. We teach people that our problems stem from a cultural mindset that is completely irrelevant to the current cultural mindsets we have. Our problems do not stem from the societies thousands upon thousands of years ago that we do not share a cultural identity with, but with the societies we are living in right this very moment. Whether or not your 'ancestors' were hunter-gatherers isn't relevant unless you live in that type of society or your culture transitioned from that type of society in an amount of time that would have generational impact. The proposed time frame of when hunter-gatherers were "supposedly" predominant in humanity is so far in the past that it has no influence on how we structure ourselves in the present day.

That's a choice. If you eat like them, you'll think like them. You'll gain a fraction of the spirit they had before the fall of man.

I'm not saying whether or not we should live a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, but what I am saying is that agricultural societies like to use hunter-gatherers as a scapegoat to blame their own ills upon despite having entirely different cultural problems.

Exactly, because we are ki kai and arrived on a spaceship, and once we are dead, someone else will come to rule

You can thank white people for being just rulers, because once they are gone, you're owned by the next in line to rule earth.

Hopefully they don't eat you all.

What the frick is this moronic brainlet take
Yes, things work vastly different from the way it used to, yes the proximity to that being further away now affects the way it functions
But is it something completely different from how it used to be? There's still plenty of things in common with how it used to work with how it works now, the only difference being that it isn't as inter-personal as it used to be, there's still the same concept of value someone has and the way to negotiate that value into a preferrable outcome for the individual.
The very act of negotiation goes back a very long time, be it intellectual value or otherwise, certain people managed prominent positions through the mere act of bargaining, and this ability is still very much present in today's society.

Also I would say that one of the most crucial differences in the way things work now as opposed to the way it used to, would be what we define as value, value has changed in definition and can mean a lot of different things nowadays, but there are striking similarities to the way it used to work to how it works now. Back then we would exchange favors, it was more personal and between two people, nowadays we do the same thing except the one we have to answer to is a system that has been devised to assign certain people to certain activities given a certain amount of time, and the reward for managing to do so. It doesn't take a lot of effort to compare how things work now as opposed to when it did during the initial stages of civilization, it was a natural form of progression, the fact that it has become more efficient nowadays doesn't detract from the idea that it is just a more advanced concept which does more or less the same thing.

Let me break this down for you. There are three different types of ways you can structure your society in regards to the acquisition of food
      >shepherding and herding
      >hunting and gathering
      >farming
Some are a mix of these and some are predominantly one due to climate, location, and other factors. Which of these forms the basis for your society has a massive impact on what you're able to develop as a culture and also which problems your culture will have as a result. The problems that stem from an agricultural society are very different from those of hunters and gatherers, and even from shepherds and herders. Compare the nomads of the Eurasian Steppes to agricultural societies such as Egypt, Babylon, or Persia and any other and this is very clear. I can go into more detail about what I mean if you need me to elaborate more.

But not far enough in the past for us to have evolved much if at all since then. That's the problem, we evolved to be hunter gatherers we did not evolve to sit in an office chair for seven hours.
