Shirt is really tacky, i dont even like that kind of pattern on casual fits with chinos but it looks even more out of place with a suit. The shoes are nice to look at.

I like the full balenci with the built bro. I might like to get that big but I enjoy fashion too much. Most things just arent made for a body like that, you pull it off well with the proportions.

it’s actually made by italian fabric maker Albini but the ugly ass pretentious gay at PS helped design it or something (likely just chose one from their 20000 bunches and called it a day).

In all fairness, It’s a great fabric, very slubby and seems to get better with wear, however that has more to do with Albini than with the guy running Permanentstyle.

Any tips on how to find a good tailor or what a good tailor is? People on here just say "get a good tailor" but don’t explain what that is for somebody who has no clue on what good tailoring is. I know high end brands have their in house tailor but I assume they tailor for their brands only

the telltale for me is when they decline to do a certain alteration on the basis that it isn’t necessary or would be too much (or not flattering at all) even though they could be squeezing some more money out of it.

Also, if they’re capable of disassembling a sport coat/blazer and shorten the arm length without touching the bottom and/or sew actual buttonholes with a handmade Milanese buttonhole style and/or cut/alter a jacket shoulder with a spallacamicia pattern.

I might be spoiled though cause most tailors here in Italy are great. Smaller tailoring shops also seem to be better than big labels in house ones.

Today was a good day. Some really young girls gave me a mire when I went to the local store to purchase some eggs and beers.

You should never button the last button and possibly the first one as well, if it’s a 3 roll 2. Check the backside of the buttonhole, if it isn’t sewn as nicely it’s a 3 roll 2.

Also, the flap pockets and the ticket pocket bring up the formality of the sport coat quite a bit, I wouldn’t wear that with a crewneck t-shirt underneath.

Other than that, it’s a nice jacket and the fit is pretty great.

        • Anonymous says:

          >flap pockets bring up the formality of the sport coat quite a bit
as opposed to what? Patch pockets sure, but flap is always less formal than piped pockets on both trousers and jackets

you know how some hairstylists, they nod and act like they’re hearing you, and then they give you the haircut they want to give you? you’ve probably picked up on when things will go badly, right? it’s like that with a tailor.

and just like with a hairstylist, you need to just accept that you’re going to have some losses. when things go badly, learn from your mistakes. even if they bear most of the blame, usually you played some part in that, what you could have said, or how you should have said it.

if you haven’t got a clue about good tailoring you won’t get good results right away. even if a house has a certain style that it’s respected for, there’s no guarantee that the house style works for you. you need to know your likes and dislikes, how you live in your own clothes, or else you’re just walking into the barber and saying "short on the sides long on the top" and praying.

It’s fantastic, among the best RTW unstructured or half-canvassed sport coats on the market, although the silhouettes are, as a general rule of thumb, a tad more close fitting compared to similar brands, especially the Pino Lerario special line. Lardini is up there too, they’re the ones making tailoring pieces for Drake’s London iirc. You can find both brands on Yoox at half off, at least in EU. Shit’s cash.

me and my extremely hot African GF were arguing about belts on suits.

She thinks it’s terrible and awful to wear a belt with a suit, and I think because a suit isn’t casual wear you should wear one (a belt), regardless if it is needed.

            What is the correct answer?

a belt is fine unless you’re wearing a waistcoat or braces.

            >You called styleforum pompous and permanentstyle pretentious. What are great places to learn the basics about the "rules" of menswear if these are not valid? They seem like good content

They’re both great sources for learning the basics (PS also makes very valid points about color, texture and fabric matching and gives great pointers about diagnosing the formality of an outfit), as a general rule of thumb however, I just don’t like the attitude showcased by the regulars posting on there, since it’s mostly dudes jerking each other off while trying to be as politically correct as possible (and still managing somehow to sound like disingenuous phonies). Besides, whenever they stray away from ultra-luxurious-head-to-toe-bespoke you quickly realize how mind-boggingly out of touch most of the userbase truly is.

As a born and raised italian, even the guy running PS cracks me up whenever he tries to delve into italian fashion as if he knows shit about it; his romanticized concept of it he likely got 2nd hand from hanging out with people at Pitti couldn’t be any more fabricated and his forays into casual menswear feel like watching "Coming to America 3: Wealthy brit goes to Texas".

Here on /fashion/ I get the genuine, unfiltered, no holds barred critique that I would get from regular Joes off the street and that’s invaluable cause none of my friends or aquaintances are neither into classic menswear nor fashion anyway.

Dude, I’m none of those posters. That was the point. When more than three dudes tells you your shit stinks maybe it’s a legit criticism.
Post a different fit, let’s see what happens.

No it isn’t dude, come on.
When somebody posts bad fashion or bad fits you need to let those dudes know; the criticism may be painful at first but the world is going to be a better dressed place for it.
My biggest fashion pet peeve? Brown shoes with white soles.

Not my cup of tea tbh, when I saw the icon I thought „good fit” but when I opened it ahh. If it works for you it works. I used to wear my dads old leather jacket that was too big for me, and this reminds me of that. Looks consistent tho and not accidental.

Not digging the overshirt over another shirt. You’re wearing three collars, my man. Perhaps with an uncollared cardigan, but that fit works pretty well as is without the overshirt. A belt with a nice belt buckle would add more detail and help separete the shirt from the pants since they’re vrry close in color. Other than that, pretty nice.

        […]

Very nice shiloutte with or without the coat, sleek.

        • Anonymous says:

I agree with you in most circumstances, all I’ll say is I’m experimenting with texture, and the difference in textures seems to let the 3 collars slide.
I’m also breaking the rules with the wool tie on a merino wool polo

          https://i.imgur.com/e7IM5U5.jpg

          but it looks good.

          • Anonymous says:

On second thought, unless you’re gonna be outside for most of the day you will be removing the jacket while inside. Textures and color work pretty well. Perhaps a jacket with a biker collar or a smaller collar could solve the three collar problem.
I insist on the belt, thougj.

it’s the twisted view of femininity that bothers me so much.
because it’s not something you embody innately, you have to make strict choices about what being a woman means, because making 0 choices means you aren’t one.
and apparently twisting your body into nosferatu shapes is more feminine, to you?

I had a coworker who after deciding to present as a woman, stopped answering questions definitively, and started acting like he didn’t know anything anymore, I didn’t even notice until female coworkers pointed it out, and it’s really gross.

  11. Anonymous says:

Hey bro, you look terrible. Those boring black garments don’t really fit you at all. The pinstripe banker trousers are too baggy and don’t make you look any thinner than you are. The t-shirt is so ill fitting I suspect it’s a woman’s t-shirt you sized up into XXL or something and it just looks bad.
The only thing that even remotely works is the highwayman jacket (pic rel) because you have such broad shoulders.
And then what’s with the boomer comfort shoe/sneakers? Nah man. Just nah.

    • Anonymous says:

It’s the "accidentally fashionable crackhead" kind of vibe. There is a very finite amount of time you can get away with dressing like that. As soon as you look over the age of 25 people are going to assume you’re an actual crackhead.

      • Anonymous says:

Just saw your other thread anon, why are you wasting so much money on the ring, shoes or the hoodie?
        >Hoodie
Theres no branding so theres no point spending that much, just get a high gsm hoodie for 3/10 of the cost
        >Shoes
        Honestly converse just look better?
        >Ring
Just get any ring thats heavy anon, jesus christ you dont need some weird skull. Theres probably replicas for $1 online.
        >Hat
This is the only piece Im allowing because you get to show off the branding and its uniquely shaped to stand out.
Buy a cheap version of a fit first, then if it works and you want to make it your look then do it.

stop wearing shein. dont ever post here again if u are wearing shein

But I look better than everyone in this thread? Learn to dress yourself before you insult cheap clothing anon.

Yeah, bulking isnt too easy. My boyfriend has been eating 3000kcal a day for 12 weeks now and hes finally nice and bulky, once he cuts the fat then he is going to be ideal for the clothes I got him

Also weirdly enough, Id prefer to see the watch on your left wrist.

Why do you not work on your body and hair before your fashion anon? You have a huge oversized head and your body is HEAVILY disproportionate. Im assuming youre around 6ft but maybe only 63kg, you should be closer to 80 to match that vibe.
      […]
You give off single mother energy anon, wear a smaller size or taper it around the waist.
      […]
Longer, less flowy skirt and stop putting two accents, the white top and white shoes make me confused on where to look, dull down the shoes and leave the focus on the top.
Otherwise you can skip the tights and go for the e-girl aesthetic and wear a knee or thigh high just to balance it so its not overly top and bottom heavy, some skin will add something in the middle. Ankle socks wont work here, so dont even try unless they have a color and you match it with a loose nicktie in the same shade. (Hair tie will also need to match)
      […]
Good look, maybe try folding up the ankles on the jeans like the asians do just to introduce some personality into the denim. Every girl wears jeans, you want to make them yours.
      […]
Stop smoking anon. But eat more than one burger youre too slim. Maybe get more sunlight too and check your nutrition Im worried about your skin.

My fit is all from Shein, besides the handbag. It cost under $45 (Including the boots)

Sure thing anon. For STFs you’ll want them to be baggy as shit when you first put them on. I’ve got ham thighs so I go up 2 sizes but if you’re slimmer you may be able to get away with 1 size up. Then do a hot wash and wear them while they dry for the best fit. For 13mwz get them skin tight in the thigh because they stretch a ton.
