That just sounds like you feel insecure about yourself, even worse than others perceiving insecurity in you

I was homeless for nearly a decade and now I am better off than the average person. I still don't have any desire to buy worthless garbage like a Rolex.

When cellphone/PC repair shops replace specialized watchmakers and the guy getting paid 12$/hr tells you everything in your galaxy watch 8 is proprietary even though best buy told you otherwise I hope the 800$ was worth it.

If you're poor just buy a Seiko, a Citizen or whatever is not trying to copy the Rolex GMT Master like the piece of shit pagani design you're wearing. That thing is pathetic and until you wear it you are pathetic yourself.

      Based.
      Seiko 5 is peak watch
<$300 for a watch that will never need ANYTHING but a place on your wrist.

Or you could spend $4000+ to look like a Persian or old white man.

I have five different seiko 5 automatic which I paid less than $1k for all of them. Though I must admit I mostly only use the snxs77 one. They haven't really got collectors' value, but they're neat and look way better than they cost.

I got mine for £800 in really good nick. They vary in price depending on condition and where you get them from for around 700-1200. When I was looking for a birth year watch, the 7A28 popped up and I only buy military watches, so it was a no brainer. The condition of some I found were horrific though. As the article states, these were military issue and not particular rare in terms of being military issue. So they were treated like just any other piece of issued kit by the service people at the time. The one in the article is 0317/84. Mine is 0377/84.

That's pricey, but nowhere near a salvaged rolex case filled with fake poojeet guts.

It's actually cheap for an official limited number, military issued watch. I was lucky to find mine in a vintage shop and I don't think they realised what they had, since the condition it's in I could easily sell it for at least a grand or more. This is one watch I'll never get rid of though. Because it's issue year is my birth year and it's an officially issued military watch, which is what I collect. I don't have any interest in any other types of watches. People ask me "wouldn't you like a Rolex" and I'm not against Rolex for all the reasons everyone else is. They just don't interest me unless they've got military history and were officially issued. So the only actual Rolex that interests me is the Rolex 5517 with 0552 designation. And I hate dive watches.

I mean, as far as mechs go, Rolex is pretty fucking good. A consistent +/- 6 seconds a day is about the best you're going to get from a mechanical watch.
