There is no group of people I'm more certain are burning in hell than the Manhattan project scientists. I have more doubts Hitler is and I don't even like him at all.
Hmm no, they doomed humanity to a nuclear holocaust by developing the bomb. Now there's a 0% chance we will ever denuclearize totally before catastrophe strikes.
Nukes have killed less people than pretty much any other weapon

We have been in the nuclear age only since 1945, and have had multiple nuclear close calls that came down to luck already. How long do you think we will go if denuclearization doesn't happen? 10 years? 50? 100? 500? 1000 years without a nuclear blunder or accident happening somewhere in the world? The longer you look into the future, the more dangerous and insecure this suicidal nuclear "security" pact looks.

Why would the inventors be worse for making a weapon that no one is ever going to use? Why would they be worse than the inventors of gunpowder which has unironically probably killed billions.

it's not a question of whose ''worse'', but what is worse, gunpowder is often restricted to a single individual with a single firearm, you can only kill a few people at a time and every individual carrying a gun has to make a conscious decision wether to shoot someone or not, and even then you can still save the person who got hit. with a nuke, there's no ''individual'' decision making, you have to literally trust burecrauts and their legal system, and once fired there is no turning back, in case a nuclear exchange happens there will hardly be another.

This is something that will be true until it suddenly and un-notably isn't.
why did he believe that nukes had been detonated on earth in prehistory?
>Student: "Was the bomb exploded at Alamogordo during the Manhattan Project the first one to be detonated?" >Dr. Oppenheimer: “Well — yes. In modern times, of course."
sumerians have texts that makes reference to atomic bombs and so does the hindus
When a atom-splitting scientist starts quoting some real heavy shit from the Bhagavad Gita then watch out
>In ancient Indian Texts, the Brahmastra (Sanskrit: ब्रह्मास्त्र, romanized: Brahmāstra) and its variants, the Higher brahmastra , and Brahmashirsha astra are supernatural weapons collectively called Brahma weapons. The Brahmashirsha astra is a weapon that is said to be able to destroy the universe, capable of destroying creation and vanquishing all beings. They are the most destructive, powerful, and irresistible weapons mentioned in Hinduism. These weapons are all created by Lord Brahma.
>It is termed as a fiery weapon that creates a fierce fireball, blazing up with terrible flames and countless horrendous thunder flashes. When discharged, all nature including trees, oceans, and animals tremble, and the sky surrounds with flame, glaciers melt and mountains shatter with copious noise all around.
>When used, the Brahmastra which is person-centric can destroy a powerful enemy if he does not possess an alternate counter weapon. If it is Bhramashirsha Astra it causes collateral damage to every useful resource in a given area and prevents even a single blade of grass from ever growing in that area again. It is mentioned in Epic that there will be no rainfall for 12 Brahma years (1 Brahma year = 3.11 trillion human years; 12 Brahma years = 37.32 trillion human years) and climate conditions will worsen. The strike of the Brahmashira astra will eventually destroy everything.
He jut let his hatred of germans get the better of him. Even if the manhattan project guys didn't create the atomic bomb, someone else would have just a bit later because it's such a powerful strategic tool, so it's futile to hold that against them, but the "oh woe is me, what have I created" LARP never should have happened because they all knew exactly what they were creating, and for what purpose. Let's not pretend they were not out for revenge against germany.
i hate that corny homie so much >wanna build a bomb to kill people >okay >*bomb kills people* >AHHH HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN??? I AM BECOME SNEED SEEDER OF FEED
He was a humblebragging homosexual >Aw man, wouldn't it be haha frickin' awful if you hahaha invented a weapon that wiped a couple hundred thousand people off the face of the Earth in an instant hahaha
Truman should've shot him just for being a homosexual
>I can't wait to say the cool line from a book that I memorized
The guy who actually nuked japan though so. So yes.
He never said that tho based if he did.
Posting fake quotes on a history board to be edgy
>makes deadly weapon for military
>military uses it to kill
>noooooo why did you use it to kill?
he was stupid at least

If God didn't want us to build nukes, he would not have put fissionable material on earth
>fissionable
If only there was a word for this
better question would be...
