Here is the tire side. What a crazy footprint. I'm bewildered.

If it's still in the tire then show what it is.

its a piece if rebar or large bolt. the rings you see are from the blunt end forcing its way through the rubber. ive had the same thing happen before and it was a 1/2 threaded rod that went through the tire, rim and into the brake caliper.

maybe ran over a piece of rebar coming out of concrete?

Look at the concentric rings cut into tire, that's not it.

maybe ran over a piece of rebar coming out of concrete?

I thought about that, but I don't think the hole that fully punctured is rebar sized...like there looks like a fist sized round base, and then like a 1 inch tall circle that eats a chunk of the rubber, and then coming from that something long and skinny. I'm lost here.

My newest theory is a screwdriver (Picrel)...
But now I've realized the angle of attack is OPPOSITE the direction of travel for the wheel? Right? Am I crazy?

      >is OPPOSITE
the rubber acted like a fulcrum point
look how the circles get closet together in the lesft side of the pic here,

I feel like someone put a blank in the road and your ass drove over it.

      Blanks don't make holes.

Ooh. Puncture forensics thread. Fun. I have no theory but it kind of looks like whatever it was had to be secured or at least wedged in to a crack in the concrete. I guess one in a million shot if it was loose and your tire hit it just so to get enough force to make that hole in the wheel.
This reminds me of the curious case of the mystery thing that tore open my dad's oil pan on a road trip when I was a kid. Whatever it was tore the underbody cladding, make a long groove across the oil pan front to back before colliding with one of the bolts and ripping it open. We never found out what it was. I saw SOMETHING on the road as we were approaching, it looks metal and I swear it had to be bolted down. Metal piece bolted down in the middle of the lane on a rural highway in Montana. Makes no sense but I don't understand what could have possibly stayed in place to cut that long groove instead of making a dent and flying off towards the rear.

Thats because you made the biggest mistake of driving on low profile tires. Too thin amount of rubber between rim and road leads to increased rim damages when tire blows out or tire puncture happens. You most likely hit a nail on the road or something similar. If this would have been happened parking situation then it would have been vandalization. The easiest and cheapest solution is to never buy any low profile tires again.

      >biggest mistake
??? My car comes with this style tire, I’m not changing it up just because some pseudo intellectual on the internet has a malformed opinion on low profile tires. Gonna keep the stock tire dimensions.

What is your car brand, model, year? Most cars dont come with low profile tires as stock.

You drove over a sharp cylindrical object like a screw, it punctured the tire, then the weight of the car pressed it into your rim. The rim gave in and broke. The screw might still be inside the tire or it got blown out by the pressure idk. Bad luck.
