God, this book is such a slog to read. I'm barely done with second volume and thinking of dropping it.
Is Anna Karenina the same?

Why did you read 800 pages already if you didn't like it?
I forced myself to be consistent because of read along threads on IQfy (which are also dead af now)
Yeah, probably. I will try to read it again after some time
>read along threads on IQfy
That was your first mistake, no one in IQfy reads
They're often done just badly, in my experience. If someone starts a readalong of certain book, then OP should be obligated to initiate discussion, keep threads active and such. In this one readalong the thread was just made and left, and people started dropping from it day by day. Also, daily threads suck, would probably be much better to do weekly ones (it should be done at least to experiment with other format)
Filtered.
but its not hard
>he thinks it's a matter of difficulty

How old are you, OP?
Just read this shit when you're 25+
I'm 22, and yeah, this book feels like I should be older to enjoy it.
Will definitely try to read it again some day
There are a lot of stuff that didn't click for me or went over my head when I was your age. Just read other classics and come back to the ones that filter you later on.
On a kinda related note - you should return to the great books every 10-15 years anyway.
I liked War and Peace but I took a few months break once I hit page 700. It's a good book, my favourite character was Pierre and I liked War and Peace better than Anna Karina
I first read it in eighth grade. I enjoyed it up to the eve of the Battle of Borodino. One of my few memories of it are the descriptions of a neurotic Napoleon taking snuff from a gilded box.
>God, this book is such a slog to read.
Is this your first Tolstoj? You're not supposed to start with this one.
Which one would you suggest?
Kreutzer Sonata
The Devil
who still following the readalong?
Only a few. There is not even an active thread on IQfy right now, and the last one died with only 40 posts. It's over
>such a slog
I'm surprised you think so. This is one of the few classics that didn't feel like a slog to me. Basically entertaining all the way through until we get to his philosophy of history section at the end, which I still found interesting.
Enjoy. good book senpai
Anna Karenina is the greatest work of fiction I have ever touched. It made me weep. And what endearing characters too, all of them.
