No VR Desktop will ever be anywhere as ergonomic as mouse and keyboard. Move based input suck for anything that isn't an immersive 3D game.
And if you are going to use mouse and keyboard anyway, then you will still be stuck in single position and having bunch of screens will always be more pleasant to look at. Especially considering you won't have to wear some piece of hardware stocked to your face that is only projecting the view from cameras.(overlay AR is just infeasible)
i dont' care about input, mouse and keyboard is the way, what i want is private and 6+ virtual monitors to improve my productivity
Then get 6+ monitors. You will quickly realize more than 3 monitors doesn't change anything.
Physical monitors will be cheaper and more comfortable to use in the long term.

virtual desktop is the best there is and it hinges on your real monitors, so if you only have one display thats all you get in VR, truly retarded
We just had a thread about connecting adapters with pins shorted out to fool the system into thinking it is displaying an image.
Perhaps you could make 5 of these and attached them.
Vr desktops are fine provided you have a high resolution headset and a decent graphics card for a smooth frame rate

it will be fine if you don't already have a large 4k monitor. I have one and a quest 2 and the hi res monitor just kills it. if you only have one or two 1080p monitors, then it should be an upgrade.
