7z literally using 2 commands you will ever need.
7z a to pack and 7z x to extract
it's much simpler and faster than using xz where not only you need to set up xz_opts variable but it's also much slower as it refuses to use all cores
>Total Commander
I really want to try it but I run Linux, are there any worthy alternatives? Looking at Double Commander and Midnight, but please share any others.
if im stuck in tty for whatever reason and cant use my favorite double commander gui file manager, i will just cp and mv commands at that point, never got the hype around midnight commander, it can't load thumbnails so it's pretty worthless for sorting memes as cp and mv commands will just do that already

Not just slow, the UI is trash.

All great answers I'll just add Everything by voidtools, and Windir stat if you're on Windows
also Sublime Text > Notepad ++
To keep the annoying update prompt on start up from happening, just add
127.0.0.1 www.sublimetext.com
to your hosts file.
>Sublime Text > Notepad ++
lel, no.
>Windir stat
Mogged by WizTree. I don't care if it has a donation button, it's much, MUCH faster
I can't find it. where is the button?

Gee Bill, how come you mom gave you two commanders.
midnight commander. whether I have a gui or not it is probably one of the best file managers out there.
It looks really good, too. I would love a ``modern" desktop with a dialog interface. Some ``cool'' star trek shit.

Seeing a lot of praise for Midnight Commander. Does it have a vim mode or should I just stick with ranger (or one of the clones)?
its keybinds are customizable, and I've seen vi-like presets for it online.
