>used to be an autist who downloaded all his music from slsk and cataloged it
>stopped doing that ever since I bought spotify premium
I don't see the point of downloading music anymore since it's slow as fuck, takes time and spotify has 99% of my music taste covered
see what happens when your internet goes out. or when you're on a long road trip with no cell service
Spotify kept going for me even in the Highlands of Scotland. Besides, you can download albums and playlists.
nigga you can download albums and make your own playlists with soulseek, all adless, all for free
I earn quite a lot, I’d rather pay £11 a month for the convenience of Spotify than fart about using torrents like it’s 2007 again.
I’d rather spend 6$ a month and save my time
>paying money for an adless algo
ngmi
Personally trying to get away from spotify. Rather buy the album from bandcamp and have it forever as opposed being at the mercy of spotify to dictate what is and is not available
bandcamp bans artists too
are these "unavailable albums" in the room with us now?
Neil Young and Joni Mitchell
>artist chooses to remove stuff from spotify
>why would spotify do this to us?
They chose to drive off the talented artists in favour of right-wing anti-vaxxers
if you don't own it physically, it makes no difference whether you stream, download, etc. you don't own it and it isn't real.
CDs and vinyl are real tangible property
spotify is missing far too much music for this to ever be an option for me
You can add local files to your Spotify playlists. I just use an mp3 converter and find songs on YouTube, then I add the converted file to my Spotify folder which I created on my iphone. You need to toggle the settings on Spotify to allow local files to show up, after which they will appear in your library and you can add those songs to any playlist you want.
Spotify is handy, their music quality is trash though, it's good as a background noise
When I want to listen to the music I always download
You know you can set the bit rate to 320kbps right?
Try listening to any downloaded flac and compare it to the highest quality available on spotify and tell me you cant hear a difference
That shit is not even close
I used to listen to flac through my amp, dac and HD600s/AKG K701s but I grew out of giving a shit. I found I was listening more for being mesmerised in audio and production quality than actually appreciating the music. I even had a 1gb Dark Side of the Moon rip. It’s just masturbatory.
Masturbatory or not, sometimes you just want to listen to actual good quality music and appreciate the production too
When it comes to this spotify falls too far behind the good old fashioned raw downloads
Uh huh
they cant hear a difference because they listen to music on laptops and phones with consumer grade earphones or speakers
I know Im old but I want a library of local files that I know I'll be able to access anytime I want, now, next month, or in 10 or 20 years. No awkward artist or label or licensing deal shite is going to make anything disappear from my library. Being without internet is hardly a thing any more, thats true, but if it happens it wont affect me. It doesnt cost anything, and fuck ads, seriously, fuck them right in the ear.
And as a general thing I hate how were supposed to have a subscription for EVERYTHING now. Each one might only be a few quid a month but when you've got like two dozen of the fuckers, month after month, year after year? No thanks, especially when the alternative is free in perpetuity. Id rather spend some of that money on occasionally buying music from the artists I want to support so they actually get some money from an album sale, rather than the 0.0001 penny my listen on spotify might get them.
Literally the only downside is storage space but cost/GB is ridiculously cheap and its something Ive got anyway. So yeah nah fuck it, I'll keep my library tyvm.
I stream and have a program that automatically rips and downloads every song I have favorited. Problem? :^)
Mind sharing it? 🙂

enjoy
>requires deezer subscription for >128kbps
yet another reminder that deezer is endlessly superior to spotify since it both lets you stream AND download
well i for one really like curating my own library. it's repetitive, predictable, and it makes me feel safe
>stealing music
>paying for streaming service
both dumb. true music enjoyers listen to and buy full albums.
>he listens to albums that can still be bought
LOL
there's always an out of print available
>true music enjoyers
no im enjoying it fine im just doing it for free LOLOL
>not enjoying the artist enough to think they're worth supporting
then you don't really care about music
i am not paying for music simple as
Spotify premium is like a white girl trying BBC for the first time. At first she’s horrified at the thought of it. Then she decides to try it just for a little bit. Then she can never go back to white boys again.
your mental obsession with black male genitalia is worrying
it ain't obsession it's just da big black truth
Spotify is shit in that you can't access your dl library consistently if you're phone has no service. Apple music covers 99% of most people's taste and allows you to add things to your personal library that Apple will store in their cloud that aren't on the service.
I still use musicbee and local files for music I care about, and spotify for things I'm checking out that I don't think I'd want to have downloaded, but apple music is more than what most people need unless you use last.fm
