You know you could just turn off real time scanning and real time file monitoring. That or just exclude common folders like SteamApps and torrent directories.
tbh realtime file scanning shouldn't actually bring you down that much, it's just that NTFS is slow as molasses and gets bogged down by a thousand files in the same directory. On a Linux system on a directory with over a million files and thousands of updates a second, follower software keeps up no problem.

This is pretty funny I am running KDE and dolphin is slow as fuck to actually rend every single thumbnail in a folder with 5k images. Sometimes the fucking thumbnails don't even load until I hover over them even in smaller folders. Also can't figure out a solution either.

I did, but real time scanning can only be turned off temporarily. Every time you reboot it's back on. So I just uninstalled the whole thing
