According to appeal videos released by Russian mobliks under DNR command, they will only evacuate lightly wounded troops with recoverable injuries (I.e they can be patched up and sent back to the front in a couple weeks). Troops with serious injuries who are out of the war for the remainder are left to die because they no longer have any use and would just waste scarce resources

It's certainly been a time tested protocol for these kinds of mass mobilisation strategies. Typically armies with trained soldiers will always seek to extract and support troops, but if they are mobilised conscripts with little training who cares?

You know exactly why. They're just as high if not higher. The U.S. never concealed casualties during Desert Storm or Afghanistan because they were defeating the enemy in combat. If you're hiding your war dead, there's obviously not something to be proud of.

the russian strategy is to find weakly defended trenches and overwhelm them with numbers. This tactic favors russia but they don't get many kills this way, as sometimes there's only 5 ukies there.
Their other strategy is lobbing inaccurate artillery at empty fields and hospitals. the hospitals aren't holding combatants so I won't count that. Still not too many. Less so now that there are ammo shortages.
ukraine targets ammo depots and logistics centers, also not many kills.
however russia is generally the one doing offensives most of the time, and that's when they'll lose up to 10-15 troops at a time from artillery. in drone wars ukraine is supplied with way more there and that's where many casualties come from.
if US bradleys and abrams ever arrive it could tip the scales considerably, most russian offensives have barely a few BMPs to use. with mostly infantry supporting.
